Many sports commentators and a few athletes believe the wnba is a waste of time and money because the players do not compete hard enough. Women basketball players work like any other athlete. Female basketball players are often looked at as weak, masculine, and somebody who always like to take charge. Women who play basketball are not considered interesting because men have been playing it for so long. Several basketball players have admitted to being disappointed because sports commentators do not usually talk about how a team in the wnba beat a good team the night before. It is a little frustrating because players put in some much time and work to become a better player but nobody acknowledges them, or gives the credit female players deserve. A female player could be the top athlete in the league, but still will get paid less because the league is not popular. Popular sports brands like nike do not usually sponsor wnba players because they are not popular enough. Sweating, and screaming is not considered attractive to men because men like women who are clean and less masculine. Basically if you are not a popular basketball player, you are not going to receive any credit for what you do. You could have an amazing game, and maybe even hit a game winner, but because you are not a popular it is not going to matter. The fan base for the wnba has not changed either. The league has not been around long enough, which mean the fanbase is going to be less. Women’s basketball is way different than men, so the sport played differently can cause a lack of interest to some people. Wnba players have not been around enough, and that is where the misconceptions come in. It is considered boring, but people just do not take in the time to actually watch
