Why Jaleel Should Be Taken Into Foster Care
Jaleel was born on 12/25/2006.Jaleel's old mother was named Gail White and he had many reports of neglect and abuse throughout 2008 - 2009. In 2011 Jaleel was taken into foster care. A woman by the name Ms.White proved that she was able to take care of Jaleel of some time. But after many annual check-ins the court has recommended for Jaleel to get a new foster parent. For now Jaleel will remain in Ms. White’s care until adopted. Since the last visit, Jaleel is acting very strange. After reading about the environment in Jaleel's house, I feel like it is a unsafe environment for a child. All the yelling and fighting in his house is very negative behavior for a child. The way of discipline is way too harsh and could cause someone to get hurt really badly. This could cause the child to think that this behavior is okay. If he is not taken out of her care then, he could get anxiety or depression. One reason is for why I think he should be taken out of Ms.White’s care is because he could get really hurt one day because based on the fight happening everyday. “Mr. Price then grabbed Laura. Laura then hit Mr. Price and Mr. Price said a bad word and smacked Laura.” (Paragraph 3) Another reason is the fighting everyday could affect Jaleel to get depressed, anxious or PTSD because of his previous relationship with his mother which had abused him as well. “Jaleel reports this as a common occurrence.” (Paragraph 2) The fighting could also make him think that the fighting is okay because it seems to be used to deal with a lot of issues, as well if he got hit he could think that it's okay as long as he isn't bleeding because that is what their current attitude is. “He said when Laura came upstairs he saw red on her face. He stated there was no blood coming, so it wasn’t ‘a bad hurt.’” (Paragraph

    Foster Care Ethics Analysis

When an individual thinks of ethics they may think of universal rules and morals that everyone follows to ensure the safety of persons and social justice for those who violate these said rules. However, they would be wrong in believing such ethical standards are held at such high standards internationally compared to our Western ideals. Even ethical standards in the United States tend to vary across states. While thinking in an ethical mind set I thought about a group of persons, who are important to me, children in the foster care system. This particular group of individuals is important to me because I was a summer counselor for children who were diagnosed with ADHA and other co-diagnoses, and the majority of the children have been through the foster care system. I decided to compare the ethical standards held in the foster care systems in the United States to the foster care systems in China because nearly one-third of Chinese children were adopted into the United States in 2007 (“China adoption statistics,” 2007). Therefore, we are relying on Chinese ethical standards for the care of these children until they are settled in the United States with their family.…

Parents who have children removed from their home still have rights over them. Placing their child in foster care is only a temporary solution in order to stabilize the family and protect the child. Legally, once the child is in state custody, the parents no longer have control of what is going to happen to their child. Although the parents maintain their rights, the state now provide and maintain the welfare of that child while the parent(s) complete the goals given to them to regain custody (Koocher, 1990). The child also has rights while they are placed in foster care.…

Many of us are lucky enough to be raised by supportive parents who we can turn to long after the age of 18 for encouragement, reassurance and direction in our lives. These kids have been dealt a rough hand in life and many times they have no type of family connections or even reliable friends. They end up facing challenges that the majority of youth with families will never know. They have a higher risk of ending up on public assistance, homeless, as young parents or incarcerated.…
