MANY TIMES IN OUR MARINE CORPS CAREER WE WILL BE ENTRUSTED TO COMPLETE A MISSION OR ASSIGNMENT WITHOUT THE HELP OR SUPERVISION OF OTHER MARINES. IT IS TIMES LIKE THIS WHERE WE MUST STAND UP AND BECOME THE MARINE WHO HAS THESE QUALITIES, AND POSSESS THE ABILITY TO USE THEM TO EXECUTE THE MISSION SUCCESSFULLY.…
Topic of this essay is rules and regulations and why they are important to not only the marine corps but life in general.…
The history of our beloved Marine Corps is a rich and renowned one full of our traditions. Webster defines tradition as “a way of thinking, behaving, or doing something that has been used by the people in a particular group, family, society, etc., for a long time”. Used by a group or society but above all a family, in many way, that is exactly what the Marines are it is not a job, not a corporation but a family steeped in our traditions. These traditions have many important aspects none more so than honor, courage and commitment. Honor, the back bone of every Marine, it is shown through our actions and is why Marines have such high integrity. Our courage is shown in whites out teeth, bared in the face of death and danger. Last but never least…
In my life, I have had wanted nothing more than what I now am, a Marine. A single 6-letter word that speaks volumes to multitudes. Just the name, Marine, carries pride, honor and courage. Many men join for many different reasons, but they all start off with the same goal along the way, to become a Marine. To be one of the few, the proud. Proud, pride, strength when united. Every background, every creed and every color. All come together under the same promise. The promise to protect this country against all enemies, foreign and domestic. All who join have accepted this price, this calling. The price of having to leave all behind, to journey to a country where people hate you, and all you stand for.…
As a cadet in JROTC program, the Navy Core Values have changed my intake on life and how I view things personally. The three Values are Honor Courage and Commitment. The biggest thing that I have learned is Leadership that plays a huge part of being in this class. A lot of times your leadership skills will be tested, and you will be asked to step up and do things that might take you out of your comfort zone. Some things that you are asked to do will make you uncomfortable, but that’s how you grow as a person.…
Values are learned and picked up throughout our lives. Honor, has multiple definitions, so can mean differently to people. Defined by the Navy, honor means accountable for professional and personal behavior. In other words, being that individual whom does what he/she think is right. Whether you be a sailor, marine, airman risking your life to ensure America stays safe, or a pastor passing on the word of God.…
Their values embody selfless service achieved through the contributions of each individual. The Coast Guard core values are honor, respect and devotion to duty.…
I define loyalty as the willingness of a person to sacrifice at their own personal expense in order to protect, uphold, defend and edify those persons, ideals and/or things which they cherish most. The amount of loyalty a person feels towards someone or something determines how much they are willing to sacrifice for them. As a soldier, we are called upon to sacrifice every aspect of our lives - the physical, the mental, the emotional and the spiritual - in order to protect, uphold, defend and edify the U.S. constitution, the Army, our fellow soldiers and the nation and heritage (all those things about America that we have fought and died to achieve as a country; our structure of government, our laws and our freedoms, our prosperity) of our homeland. Our sacrifices demonstrate our loyalty and it is our loyalty that allows the America we know today to continue to grow and prosper as our ancestors hoped. It is worth noting that loyalty, as a rule, does not take into consideration the small, every-day irritants and disagreements that we encounter with the persons and things to which we are loyal; if it did, it would no longer require self-sacrifice but would instead be a matter of business exchange, or more appropriately, mercenary enterprise. This is why the Army definition of loyalty uses the phrase, "true faith"; to have faith means to believe even when the evidence and facts are in disagreement with the desired outcome of one's hopes and action(s). Loyalty means to believe that our personal sacrifices will be worthwhile in the end no matter how bleak the outcome may look in the present.…
First, I plan on enlisting into the Marines to get a sense of belonging that i’ve gotten almost nowhere else. The Marines are strict on the saying “no man left behind”. To me this has a certain attractiveness because regardless of it being my fault, i’ve let down everyone that i’ve ever met. Being in a brotherhood ,not of flesh and blood but of love and respect, is highly appealing to me, which is why this is one of the reasons i’m enlisting.…
The essence of duty is acting in the absence of orders or direction from others, based…
The legendary American Military Hero, General George S. Patton once said, “Moral courage is the most valuable and usually most absent characteristic in men.” I also believe that moral courage is one of the most valuable characteristics a man can have, in that to truly be a man of character, you must first have moral courage in order to live and defend your values. Without moral courage, values become something that are easy to live when things are easy and you are just coasting along, but when the going gets tough, those without moral courage will be more apt to yield to the tide of ease, popularity, or pressure. I believe my values, along with my moral courage which has been tried and tested and proven to be unbending, complement the Army Values of the United States of America. My values help me to better live the Army’s values, and the Army values help me to better live my values. My core values fall under three categories: 1) devotion to my religion; 2) loyalty to my family and friends; and 3) dedication to self-improvement. The army values are loyalty, duty, respect, selfless-service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.…
loyalty is the first army value everyone learns maybe because it is the easiest not sure, I however have seen loyalty a lot lately, loyalty is a very important army value to have, you need to be loyal with your higher ranking, your fellow soldiers and the U.S. government. I have used loyalty a lot sense I have gotten back from basic training, I feel like it's one of the easiest army values to follow but also one of the easiest ones to break, I have followed loyalty pretty well this school year, I have been very loyal to my parents and friends and family sense i have been back home. Duty is an army value that is very important. You are always expected to fulfill the duties you are assigned and ordered to perform. This school year I have been very good at doing my duties with completing my school work and stay ahead on my homework and school work making sure stuff is done and turned in on time.…
My values are what have help me decide to join the Army. I want to live my life in a way to show my gratitude to the ones who have fought, died, and made it possible for me to live my dream. My values are respect, honor, and loyalty. Each of my values help me push towards my value statement because I know if it wasn’t for the people who fought in the world wars and all the battles through out history America would not be what it is today, we wouldn’t be untied at all. Honor to me is to put some one on a high level than where you are at currently, same as respect. Loyalty is the biggest value I can think of because being loyal to something is a big deal to me. Growing up I had a mixed chow dog and no matter what happened I knew if I looked down she would be right beside of me through thick and thin. She was who really taught me the most about loyalty beside other military people. One day I was taking out the trash and started getting chased by a rottweiler and my dog broke off her chain and rescued me from getting attack by the bigger dog and thats how I want to be to my country and my job.…
The Army Values are put here as guidelines for Soldiers to live by. They are a tool used to further enforce your core human morals. All seven values are important to keep close to your heart; however the one that sticks out to me the most is Selfless Service. Field Manual 7-22.7 defines selfless service as; “Putting the welfare of the Nation, the Army and your soldiers before your own”. In my opinion there are three main focal points in living up to the Army Value of selfless service. The first is devoting your efforts toward the needs of the country. Second is always putting your Soldiers needs above your own, and third is fulfilling your duty without wanting something in return.…
My family and the Marine Corps have an incredible amount of influence on me when it comes to my decision making process. The ethics of the Marine Corps are the guidelines to how I live day to day. The Marine Corps ethics are made up of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. The definition of each one has been ingrained every marine in Recruit Training, and for a good reason to. Honor guides…
