Why People Flirt

There are two types of people who flirt, they are people who are single and people who are married. In turn, everyone flirts either no commitment or commitment. Flirting is a part of human communication. It can be done through words or gestures. It is an instinctive desire of human communication. According to Belinda Luscombe from, “The Science Of Romance: Why We Flirt” , “Flirtation is a game we play, a dance for which everyone knows the moves” (336). Evidently, flirting is simply in us humans naturally and that there is no need to learn the steps of flirting. People may think there is no wrong in flirting because it is natural,but if you are married there may be dangers to it.There are many reasons why people flirt. There is a natural way through which people express their flirting or emotions without asking for anything in return. So, according to Luscombe,independent sex researcher Timothy Perper says, “People can flirt outrageously without intending anything” (336). Perper and Luscombe mean that people may flirt just because and do not mind if they get anything back in return.
For instance, Luscombe says, “...one of the things that sets married flirting apart from single flirting is that it has much greater degree of danger and fantasy to it..the stakes are higher and the risk is greater” (338). Flirting may be done for fun but that may have the opposite effect on the marriage. It can lead to hurting your spouse, even a bigger problem is divorce. In many affair cases, therapist say that the person cheating is more dissatisfied with themselves rather then their own partner.
