The age of exploration may have brought more cultures and land to the Europeans, but have you ever wondered why exploration was such an importance during this period? The answer to this question is wealth. People wanted their lives to be wealthier than it already is. This desire would influence their routes for exploration, increased their wishes for luxurious items, and would influence more trade. Of course, people had other reasons to explore. Some explored to claim new land, learn more languages, or spread their religion to other parts of the world, but Europe mostly wanted more wealth to flood their cities.
When explorers searched for new land, their routes were created to find places with trade and wealth. The Europeans had created a land route from Asia. They chose a land route to Asia because they knew that there were many great items for trade that were being sold. The reasons to travel in the age of exploration was for more wealth. Gold and silver are the form of currency during this time period. However, gold and silver mines were running out of resources. This was a serious issue, so they unquestionably needed more of these resources. The reason why they wanted more spices and food was because they weren’t satisfied with what they already had. They felt that their food was plain and dry, and enjoyment was getting old. They wanted to try something new, so they went on a journey for more spices and food, such as peppers, cinnamon and nutmeg. Lastly, the Europeans wanted their image to look fancier than normal. They wanted new perfumes, silk and jewels so they could feel more pride in themselves.
