Why Did So Many Colonists Came To America

The Americans colonists migrated from Great Britain. Their main goal was to expand to make the new world. The British also wanted to create more power and increase wealth they first tried to trade is by trading. They tried trading with Asia but, many of the trade routes with Asia were controlled by Muslim countries. So this blocked direct trade between European and Asian nations. European leaders began to look for new sea routes to Asia.They hoped to open new trade markets.Some explorers sailed around Africa to get to Asia. Some believed they could find a quicker way by sailing west. While sailing they found new lands. They came for the Caribbean islands for asia but, they had found North America and South America. On August 3, 1492, Christopher Columbus set sail from Palos, Spain. He sailed with three ships, Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. Columbus planned to cross the Atlantic Ocean. He wanted to find a quicker sea route to Asia. He really wanted to go to the countries that made more money like Japan and China. On October 12, 1492, men on the Pinta saw land. Columbus and his crew thought they had reached Asia. They actually came to what would later be known as Watlings Island in the Bahamas.
