Sanctification is a process of change in our lives. Because of our belief in Jesus and His power for change in our lives, we may choose to walk by the leading of His Spirit. When we choose faith in God in this way, He begins His sanctifying work in our lives. He leads us in this sanctifying process as we work through the situations and relationships of our lives according to God’s plan.
Working through this process of sanctification is not easy. Generally speaking relationships are challenging. But especially as it applies to our sexual relationship this process of sanctification can be excruciating in its difficulty. It was only later in retrospect that I began to go back and look closely at these scripture passages again. I knew that God had taken me from a place of hating and avoiding sex to one of valuing and desiring sex. Because of what He did in each of us, the equality and honor I was experiencing in our marriage was inconsistent with my experience of traditional Christianity and the traditionally established roles of men and women.
The result of Greg’s response to God’s Word was that I felt valued and fulfilled by our relationship as never before. I considered what God was doing, and how vital it was that Greg had been willing to view and apply this passage afresh.
