Why Should He Chose To Go To College?
Due to the title’s name, most people would think that narrator’s about to list reasons of why he chose to go to college. The seven lines state that if he didn’t go to college, his father said he would break his son’s jaw. The audience is not expecting that the narrator’s only reason to go to college is because he doesn’t want his father to break his jaw. Most people usually have several reasons to go to college, whilst the narrator has only one which is a very different reason from others. The speaker’s father most likely means what he has said. In the essay “A Note to Parents,” Ruben Navarrette, Jr. writes about the current parental issue on how the parents are approaching their children in supporting them. Ruben Navarrette, Jr. first starts off his essay with his memories of home on how his grandpa managed to keep his five sons, including his father, away from kids who can be bad influences such as toying with switchblades and stealing. Now that the writer is getting ready to start a family, his concern is the thought that his kids might get influenced by kids with BMW’s and $1000 handbags. Parents these days can be too lenient and demand too little from their children. That is why the parents are trying to make up for their absence of being too busy with work by giving cash to their children and/or by buying them things that they request. The writer closes his essay with his thought that parents should “close their wallets, take 10 minutes,” to think further about what they are really taking away from their children—they should actually be learning what it is to stay hungry for success.…

Everyone grows up hearing their loved ones tell them how college is the uppermost important decision a person can make, pushing them to attend a college. But is college really the best choice? Authors Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill of “Should Everyone Go to College?” argues yes, college is the best choice but not for everyone. Sawhill (a codirector of the Center on Children and Families) and Owen (a senior research assistant at Bookings’ Center on Children and Families when the report was written) believe college should be carefully considered before committing. Things such as cost of education, return of investment, career choices, and college choice all need to be considered. Owen and Sawhill give the potential student many considerations…

“My reasons for college are probably just like everyone else’s. I went to college because I wanted a better life for myself and better myself. I wanted to find a job that I would not be living paycheck to paycheck like my parents had to do when they first got married. I mean, no one wants to live that way? I know for a fact that I did not want that, and that is why I choose to go to college, even more than is the main reason why college was so important to me. Another reason, both my parents didn’t go to college but have archived success in the new world‘s eyes, I believe children from a young age watch and look up to those in their life. Such as word ethic and things like that, yes, they’re times that even with a terrible person to look up to that person becomes a hard working because they want to be the opposite of that person, sadly that does not happen too often. Plus I get to play one of my favorite sport which is track and field.…

The first day of me attending college was amazing meeting new people and getting to know others such as colleagues.…

Throughout my time in high school I had never really given much thought into what I wanted to do once I graduated. I knew I was going to be going to some university to pursue a degree, but I didn’t know what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go. It wasn’t until I took AP Computer Science in 11th grade that I decided that pursing a degree in Computer Science was the right thing for me. This type of work was something that I greatly enjoyed and through computer science I would be able to solve problems in creative ways. When applying for colleges I didn’t get into the University of Florida. This was my top pick and for months I was looking forward to the possibility of attending there. I didn’t let that get me down because I still had plenty…
