The main reason I believe I deserve a scholarship, is because I have worked on improving myself year after year. This place is more than just a summer camp to me, it totally changed me for the better. This camp helped me be more social, responsible, and it taught me to work and strive for greatness. I do not think any other place could have had an impact on me like this place…
I don’t know if I feel that saying that I deserve this scholarship is the right thing to say, but going to Japan has been a goal of mine ever since I can remember. My grandfather was the one who really got me interested in Japan. He would always tell me stories about the culture, people, the little bits of language that he picked up, and the time that he spent there. My grandfather would have loved me going to Japan and would have supported me whole heartedly. I want to go to Japan not only to see what he saw, but also to improve the little that I know and improve myself.…
Since, I played four sports, it was hard to just focus on one. Sometimes I would have to come in early for one sport and stay after school for another. I really had to manage my time wisely. I am proud to say that I have been on the A honor role every year since freshman year. This was a goal I had since I was a child. I always wanted to be a straight A student and when I would do bad on something, I would study it until it was perfect. I think I should be considered for this scholarship because I have great leadership skills in everything that I do. I show leadership in sports by giving 110% in practice off and on the court or field. I lead by example and have a very strong worth ethic. No matter where I am put in any sport, I give it my all.…
Why do I feel that I am deserving of a scholarship? That is such a hard question to answer, even as I sit here typing with a broken finger as to not miss a single opportunity. I would have to say I am deserving because I am a hard worker and have taken full advantage of every opportunity that has arisen. Even when life threw obstacles in my way, I found a way to not only continue with my education but to learn and grow from the experience as well. With that being said my education is so deeply important in my life.…
I am sincerely honored to have been selected as the recipient of the Presidential Scholarship. This scholarship will allow me to spend a greater amount of time focused on my education instead of on finding ways to pay for school. All seniors are told how important scholarships are, but many kids are lucky enough to have parents that have money to spare for their kids tuition. My parents are hard working and provide for my family, but they do not have enough money to help me get through college. That is why I have worked hard my whole life in many areas so hopefully when this moment came I would have multiple ways of earning some extra college money. If I am unable to pay for my college tuition the only other option I have is to go into the military instead. This is a great route but I believe my true next step after high school will be to begin my college education and continue my softball career. This scholarship can help me full fill the financial need I have.…
Growing up as a young boy, I always dreamed about joining the military and flying fighter jets. It was a long childhood dream of mine that even continued up until about a year ago. I came to CSULB to get an education to better my chances of becoming an officer in the Air Force, and have matured and changed dramatically. I have gained knowledge of the business world, which fascinates me, and gained valuable leadership skills from my extra-curricular activities that has transformed me into the individual who I am today. Since then, my goals and focus have changed from that of the military, to pursuing a fulfilling career in logistics within the business world, and becoming a well-known real estate entrepreneur among Southern California.…
While I go by the name Jacob, my real name (Seung-Min Lee) can be a clear give-away that I am of South Korean descent. Despite my birthplace being Daegu and despite my Korean heritage, I see myself simply as an American. It was at the age of three when I came to this country with my parents. My mother and father had make a myriad of sacrifices, including money and close-contact with friends and family, to settle in this land of opportunity. This was all done in return for a brighter future for me as well as for my two younger brothers, Peter and Daniel. While as a human being it is difficult to be grateful in every moment, the fact that my parents struggled so much for my future affects to this day in that it motivates me to pursue and work hard for whatever dreams I had since I understood that such a life should never be taken for granted.…
As many other graduated high school students, I have to come to the most important decision of my life: choosing a suitable place to further my education. Through the years, especially my last three years in high school, I had the opportunity to discover my passions and then came up with the awareness of my professional goals. My special interest in mathematics and the influence from my friends, particularly from my brother were the reasons why I decided to pursue finance as my career. Attending RMIT University will help me to actualize the desire to succeed in my future life.…
I am more than grateful for the opportunity that resides before me, I know there are plenty of students out there who would die to have the same opportunity as I have now. Thus, I will never take this opportunity for granted, I will use this scholarship as my motivation to be the best I can be in my chosen field because, there is someone out there who saw potential in me to offer me an opportunity to be a better me. With Gods help I hope to become successful in my field…

I have always wanted to make a career out of my music. For years, i was determined to go to college to major in Music Performance, so that I could become a mainstream trumpet player like Wynton Marsalis. I was sure of this up until my senior year in high school, when I realized that I don't need to take 4 years of college to learn something that I can learn on my own or with private instruction, and that is to perform. The moment that occurred to me, I was at a loss for what I would major in. Then I realized that, ever since I got hung up on performing, I had forgotten about my first desire, and that was to educate. So, I have decided on majoring in Music Education at a school that is well known for producing quality musicians and teachers. I mainly chose this field of study because the two things that bring joy to me are performing my music for others, and sharing my music with others. With the ability to perform, and with the ability to educate, I can achieve both. Also, in the Music Education curriculum, they help you to improve on your instrument, as well as on others. So, i am sure this will not only help me as a future educator, but also as a performer and entertainer.…
We have all heard of Governor’s, right? Well, one thing you probably don’t know is that we (Florida) have had forty-four different governors. Well, if we were to cover all of them, than we would be here all day long, but we’ll just talk about former Governor, Lawton Mainor Chiles Jr. He was the 41st governor of Florida. He did a lot of work, like being in the Korean War from 1953- 1954. He is also known as “Walkin’ Lawton” when he walked 1,003 miles from Key West to Pensacola in just three months. It was a part of his U.S. Senate Campaign in 1970. As he walked, he wrote filled eight different notebooks with “information on our states problems and the feelings of the people”. That shows how much he cares about Florida and our problems and will even spend three months trying to fix each and every one of them. That shows a great leader.…
The Affton Alumni Association Scholarship will make a difference in my post-high school education in three ways: financially, educationally, and personally. Financial assistance is a necessity for many college students, particularly those planning careers that require many years of education beyond the undergraduate level.…
