Camp Sankaty Personal Statement
I am Jeffrey Romelus from Brockton, Massachusetts. I have been attending Camp Sankaty for 5 years now. I am a captain in one of the dormitories, meaning I am responsible for teaching the younger campers the ways of camp, keeping the dormitory cleaned, and helping staff members with various jobs. I have won various awards during my tenure here at camp. I won awards for basketball, checkers, and volleyball. This past year I was awarded the Tiger Woods scholarship by the Ouimet Foundation. Also, this year I am one of the editors of the annual camp newspaper. This year I completed my freshman year of college at the University of Massachusetts Boston. I am enrolled as an economics major. I am also planning on declaring a minor, either for accounting or finance. As of now, I have a B average for my classes that are required for my major. Although, I did not have the best grades for my general education classes. I know I need to improve my grades the next year. I believe I need to work harder because the business world is very competitive, and mediocre grades will not get me far. …show more content…
I am using this job as a building block for my business career. I love many areas of business, such as finance, entrepreneurship, marketing, and investing. My goals for the future in my schooling is to be enrolled in a graduate business program after college. As for occupational, I am not too sure yet as of now, I have many interests and I hope I am able to attain experience in every one of those areas before I start a career. The main reason I believe I deserve a scholarship, is because I have worked on improving myself year after year. This place is more than just a summer camp to me, it totally changed me for the better. This camp helped me be more social, responsible, and it taught me to work and strive for greatness. I do not think any other place could have had an impact on me like this place

Why I deserve to be considered for the South Central Border All-Academics Scholarship is an easy answer, because I plan on continuing to play sports in college including dance and maybe throwing the javelin. Most students would give a heart wrenching explanation, but I go on facts. Fact one; I will be continuing to participate in dance at college. Fact two; academics do not come easy to me and so I have to work extremely hard at it. Fact three; I will work extremely hard to make the school record in javelin by throwing 109 feet. Fact four; I will be a part of dance team in college to help pay for books and tuition in college because I can not afford college otherwise. I go on facts and do not believe in lying so I will tell you that dance and…

Starguiders are girls unanimously chosen by counselors to be emerging leaders. As a starguider I would focus on girls who were having a difficult time at camp or who were homesick and find a way to help them. We also did a service project for the camp each year in order to keep the camp looking its best. One year we made a bunk notes box to be placed by the office. Bunk notes were letters that parents could write to their kids, and then the kids would write one in return and give it to the office to have it emailed to the parents. Giving the letters directly to the office had began to be disorganized. We measured the size of the papers to make the box and then we painted it with the colors of the camp. We painted a star in the middle, a symbol that the starguiders had made it.…

I am Ethan Ritz and a current 9th grader at Milken. For Service Learning this year, I was a Counselor in Training at Camp VBS for two weeks of the summer. A meaningful experience I had while being a CIT was playing with the kids in the pool. They loved the attention and the activities we played. I would give them a piggy back ride around the pool and if they wanted would throw them in the air. This always put a huge smile on their faces. One kid even said, “That was awesome!” when I threw him in the air. I loved making each kids day at camp even better.…

Camp Young Judaea is home, it is a community that has embraced me since I was a young child. Every summer I attend this amazing place and take in the entire camp experience, the good and the bad. Camp is where I grew up and learned many things, and I couldn’t imagine my life without it. The people that I have gone to camp with are some of my best friends, and the counselors are always there for us. The activities are always fun, and whenever we start cheering, singing, or just plain shouting, we become a close community.…

I was a camp counselor at Camp Wabikon ‒ a co-ed overnight summer camp located in Temagami, Ontario for children who are 6-15 years of age. Along with teaching Red Cross swimming and lifesaving and Tennis, I was my cabin's 'parent' for six weeks. Therefore, I was present with the children at all times. In essence, I was the leader of my cabin's the physical, social and mental development. The main things I learned were the importance of time management and organization , as I had to plan lessons for swimming and Tennis while taking care of my cabin; conflict resolution between campers; and the ability to plan and foresee events (I had to plan camp-wide events and activities for all campers).…

Today, I am a graduate of CUNY Baruch College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Operations Management. Although undeniably rewarding, the road to graduation was, to say the least, strenuous. When I began the pursuit of an undergraduate degree, I was determined on becoming an accountant. However, instead of solidifying my interest in this major, the demanding curriculum along with being employed full time took a toll on my GPA. As a result, I came to the realization that…
