Today, I am a graduate of CUNY Baruch College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Operations Management. Although undeniably rewarding, the road to graduation was, to say the least, strenuous. When I began the pursuit of an undergraduate degree, I was determined on becoming an accountant. However, instead of solidifying my interest in this major, the demanding curriculum along with being employed full time took a toll on my GPA. As a result, I came to the realization that …show more content…
accounting was not intended for me. Having to abruptly alter my major was an eye-opening experience; however, I believe that I have finally discovered my career path in Operations Management.
My interest in this field dates back to my first professional employment in an infertility clinic. Through this professional experience, I was able to learn how a medical practice operates from the bottom up. Once in college, I began working in a medical billing office in which I came to appreciate the delicate relationship between providers, patients, and their insurance carriers. Currently, I am employed by the Center for Learning and Innovation, a corporate university for Northwell Health. The Center for Learning and Innovation is dedicated to developing their employees through enrichment courses that teach the importance of innovation and constant development. Throughout my professional career, I have I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to diversify my professional experience while retaining invaluable insight within different divisions of the medical field.
Every single experience, negative or positive, has helped me develop into the professional I am today.
Knowing my skill sets I am confident that Empire State College’s competency-based MBA is the right fit for me. The program would provide me with the flexibility to continue to obtain professional experience in conjunction with pursuing a degree. Upon achieving this milestone, I intend on attaining a position in which I can make a greater contribution in the medical field; utilizing my professional experience along with the formal education that I will obtain. I hope that you find my character, stories, and values, well aligned with that of your current
students.
