usually being one of the largest portion of of the party percentage on campuses. They can be prone to do drugs or underage drinking since they would have the funds to indulge in these festivities. For almost not really doing that much work besides going to class, practice and games.
While theres also people on campus who have unrelated athletic scholarships, these are the academic scholarships.
The question is, would people with academic scholarships be able to be payed a salary equivalent to the an athletes scholarships salary. Some may feel that academic scholarship holders don’t have a reason to be get salary since they don’t do much physical work all the time. Most of the time their rewarded for their philosophical or creative ways of thinking. I feel though that this unfair because they still work very hard. Just because they don’t run, swim, row or etc doesn’t make them any less important or any less in need of descendable funding. If people on athletic scholarships get a salary than it is only fair that the people on academic scholarships get the same amount
also.
The main issue with this though is that the school would being paying for a lot of stuff for these people on athletic scholarships. Not every one gets a full ride to college on an athletic scholarship, but at the same time a lot of kids partial scholarships. So on top of the billion dollars that the school dishes out for you just to attend their school and be apart of their team. They would be paying you salary, this results in more money being expended instead of being invested into maybe things athletes would need for the team. Lastly I just feel that paying athletes on scholarships for no real labored work is unnecessary spending. They are already payed by their scholarships, they must work to keep it; it’s almost the same as getting a salary. The on the other hand it wouldn't be fair to people who attend universities on academic scholarships. This would make them feel more inferior to the athletes which in all technicality they are equal. For the most part though the reason this proposal shouldn’t be implemented is because this could cause smaller universities to struggle with keeping up with their spending for the athletic program at choice all together.
