Why Soccer Is Important To Me

Not many people may understand that ball may truly be life. Well, to me at least. I have been playing soccer since as long as I can remember. Although I may have had to overcome obstacles to get where I am today, soccer means everything to me. Soccer doesn’t just bring me winning games and good times it also brings me the joy of meeting new people from different places which I treasure the most. This may be the easiest thing for me to talk about because it is what I know best. When students may be applying for college, they may choose to write about family, trips, school, or clubs but truly I have no idea what I would write about if I didn’t have soccer. This may sound foolish to most, I’ve dealt with people not taking my passion of soccer serious for the majority of my life. Naturally, I find myself very energetic and always wanting to go outside, maybe that’s why my parents put me in soccer in the first place. To this day, my mother still says things like “Sydney when you aren’t playing soccer, you drive me crazy.” Normal thing for some parents to say to their kids… I think. You can ask any high schooler; a break is always needed. Soccer friends are different than school friends. Having that release, from being with the same people every day, I find that very comforting. You can tell them about people at school and what’s going on and they can give true advice from them while not knowing any of them. Most of my soccer friends live 50-2 hours away from me. Which in reality, is nice. You see them at soccer, spend weekends with them and travel with them. The memories you make on and off the field are very important.
