Why Some States Should Have Banned Saggy Pants

Many states have banned saggy pants inside of schools and most are against this style in public. Florida and Arkansas have passed laws restricting saggy pants from schools. Some people disagree and believe that it is “distracting” for students to sag their pants in school. Other communities have agreed but went further and passed on a “blanket ban” on wearing saggy pants anywhere. Other states have tried doing this (Louisiana and Virginia) but they failed to pass the statewide bans. The Lawmakers in some states know this is a problem and have passed laws prohibiting this fashion style in schools. In schools Florida and Arkansas banned them but in Georgia, Alabama, and Chicago they passed on Blanket bans which are when you cannot wear saggy pants anywhere. Louisiana and Virginia have tried to pass blanket bans but failed because many people disagreed. This is affecting many students or people of the public, mainly because if that is their style then they cannot wear that or if they could not afford a belt then they let their pants sag there is a lot of controversies. The government should not have the right to tell you what to wear.
“If people want to dress like fools, that is up to them, why is it being criminalized?” (15 Smith). Courtney from ACLU agrees with Simpkins and states that if people would like to dress the way they want too then the government should not stop the public/schools. But, Joshua Simpkins believes that students should be able to wear whatever they want. “We bought our clothes the way we wanted them, It doesn't matter how you dress.
