It's choice that should be decided on that specific person's whim. If not given this right it could turn generosity and kindness into selfishness and hate. Being able to decide yourself is what brings you confidence and reasurance. If that is taken away people will no longer want to help others, and will only be in it just to get over with it.
If somone was to be forced into serving, they would have to be covered financially. The first letter states; "with enough pay to cover living expenses." I do believe this should be done however, I think it would cover living, but not living comfortably. The second letter states; "workers might receivea small stipend to cover living expenses, but that may not be enough to live as well as they would like." It leads me back to my first point that even if they were forced to serve and paid to do so the individual would not recieve enough to live. The second letter says; "volunteers provide assistance on their own time without pay." Someone who is forced to do this should get paid to do it. It would make the individual not want to serve in future because of how it makes them feel to be trapped like rat in a cage with no way out of it. Letter one says; " community service provides many local and antional benefits." You get a choice in what you like to serve in but "some volunteer services require training." says letter two. Volunteers wouldn't have a real choice and what they had to do and this would leave people doing things they dislike. You would stress out and feel like not wanting to do it
