Why The Military Should Be Mandatory
On the matter of the U.S. institute similar practices of requiring people to join the military and serving for a year or more. I think we shouldn’t have to serve in the military for a year or more. Some people have one child and don’t want to have a effect of losing them even if they died in honor that means nothing to the parent. In conclusion to these statements some people had plans in life and being in the military could ruin their plans. I quote that Sanah Imran of the Huffington Post says “the last institution of the draft was during the Vietnam War, and it was one of the most unpopular resisted conscription in history”. This means that the whole city wasn't in agreeance with the draft they made for everyone to join the military …show more content…
I agree with this statement that they shouldn't have to risk lives for college it's not always right to do so. Maybe the child has plans without college or a high school diploma he could take over the family business or start one himself. Now from my Family source they say “making it mandatory would just make us have less jobs in america than we do now.” Since everyone would be in the military and there aren't very many schools that have the art or history as a major in the military. The military also needs to think about these could be some parents only child and end up losing them in a war then what. We all know the military will end up saying they died in honor of their country but in a mother or fathers eyes they just died because they were forced to fight and serve in the military. In conclusion, I have showed some proof of why being mandatory to join the military should not happen. What the outcome will be would end up with protests and turmoil for the whole country. People think its a honor to serve some don't like the people with only one kid who died while serving they can't bring him back. So should we really make it mandatory just to have more

    In 1967 when I enlisted in the Marine Corp we did not have the draft, the Marine Corp never used the draft but the Army did. Around, the spring of 1967 the Corp decided it needed the draft to fill all the slots open. So they started to drafting, we then had a lot of men starting to call their congressman about the way they were treated and wanted them to change the Corp. The quality of the Marine Corp started to fall so after a few years of the draft they dropped the draft, then the quality came back I feel that if you want to be in the military then you should enlist. With the job market the way it is today we should have a large group of people waiting to join. I see in the news that people want their men and women back and protesting they don’t want them to go to war, who does. But we take an oath to protect and honor the constitution of the United States of America. When called we will protect our nation no matter what. So why are these people crying about their family members going overseas let’s look at it like this, it’s a job you get paid to do a service for the country. It is an honor to do this, be proud to serve and protect we learn, and we grow when in the military many men and women have become adults fast, even if they didn’t want to they have to. Does this make them a better person I think so, if some turn out bad or misguided they would have been misguided anyway. So is it time to reinstate the draft I say no. Maybe the politicians should, be drafted and serve their country instead of trying to place people where they do not want to be. Give the military men and women more pay and respect them for what they do. When we came home from Vietnam we were spit on and called names, these men and women deserve more, honor them do not humiliate them.     I do not agree with the reinstitution of a military draft. In 1973 the military draft was lifted in the United States and with good reason. The United States should not rely on a draft to fill military vacancies but rely on recruitment.     The controversy surrounding the military draft has since its inception to its repeal in the nineteen-seventies; however the vitality of the draft remains because United States may need more than a volunteer army, it requires everyone to serve, and higher trained and educated people are needed to run new technology.
