Disaster, Death, and Frozen Toes
On April 14, after four days of uneventful sailing, Titanic received reports of ice from other ships, but she was sailing on calm seas.
At about 11:30 p.m., a lookout saw an iceberg coming ahead, then rang the warning bell and called the bridge. The engines were quickly reversed and the ship was turned around sharply—instead of making direct impact, Titanic seemed to graze along …show more content…
Men saw wives and children and families separated in the confusion, and selfless individuals gave up their spots to remain with loved ones or allow a more defenseless passenger to escape. The Titanic’s Lifeboats →
Did the constructors ever go over budget because of all luxury?
Unfortunately some elements of Thomas Andrews original design ideas were altered or removed as Titanic went over budget in construction. This included removing some of the more extravagant luxury features such as extra swimming pools, more electric lifts and amazingly the completion of its sixteen watertight hulls. This decision was obviously not well publicized at the time.
Titanic infamously had too few lifeboats to evacuate all those on board; the 20 lifeboats that she carried could only take 1,178 people, even though she had about 2,223 on board at the time of her sinking and could carry up to about 3,300 people. I guess the answer to this question is yes, the constructors did go over budget because the number of lifeboats were decreased, therefore, many passenger among the Titanic did not survive.

Some say it sank because a fire occurred and it destroyed the ship in a way so that it would sink. But, some also say that the ship hit an iceberg and it sank. But one question I have is why didn’t anyone receive the ships calls for help?
Two government investigations occurred immediately after the sinking, and agreed it was the iceberg the caused the ship to sink, not any weakness in the ship itself. Both inquiries concluded the vessel had gone to the bottom unbroken. The blame ended up on the ship's deceased captain, E. J. Smith, who was criticized for racing at 22 knots through an icefield in the dark waters off the coast. Then, after the assumption, the case of the Titanic was considered closed.
Why didn’t anyone receive the ships calls for help?
Apparently the Titanic didn’t call for help. It was the SS California that warned the Titanic that they were surrounded by ice, but the only replies were “Shut up. Shut up. I am busy”. And then, about 10 minutes later the Titanic hit an iceberg and was beginning to
