Today if you look at the music industry most females are singers. Most band if there is a female in the group they are most of the time the singer or a guitarist. There aren’t many female drummers in the music industry, but the past few years there has been more female drummers and females getting into drumming. Of the people behind the scenes of the industry, women make up less than half of the worker. There are hardly any female A&R (Artists and Repertoire) workers. Females have been underrepresented in the music industry. Some of the females that have been underrepresented in the music industry are drummer, A&R workers, and alternative rock and pop punk singer. By not having a mentor or someone to look up to, you are more likely to have less interest in drumming. Also by having a mentor, you can be taught things easily than just learning them by your self slowly. Some people might think that it is easier to teach your self but you can mess up the technique and the way you are teaching your self. By having a lack of female drummer, many female might be discouraged to even try drumming. If you want to drum but have no one to look up to, it is hard to think that you could be good enough to be the next drummer for bands like WATIC or Fall Out Boy.
