By not having a mentor or someone to look up to, you are more likely to have less interest in drumming. Also by having a mentor, you can be taught things easily than just learning them by your self slowly. Some people might think that it is easier to teach your self but you can mess up the technique and the way you are teaching your self. By having a lack of female drummer, many female might be discouraged to even try drumming. If you want to drum but have no one to look up to, it is hard to think that you could be good enough to be the next drummer for bands like WATIC or Fall Out Boy.
