a military engineer and much more. Many historians and scholars would say that Leonardo da Vinci can be regarded as a "Universal Genius" or rather a "Renaissance man." Throughout his life, da Vinci had studied and practiced various laws of science and nature which had helped influence and create his works of art.
I think that the fact that the Mona Lisa painting was even created by Da Vinci himself is one of the reasons why it's as famous as it is. Another big reason why I think the Mona Lisa is so famous was that of the entire mystery behind who the painting is supposed to be of exactly. The painting of the Mona Lisa was believed to have been a private commission, Many people had once believed that the painting could have been identified as, Princess Isabella of Naples, da Vinci's own mother, or even an "unnamed courtesan." Some people even speculated that the Mona Lisa could actually have been an assistant of da Vinci's dressed in women's clothing. Many rumors of who the mystery lady or man could have been going around for a long time until eventually, they found out who the mysterious lady in the painting was. The Mona Lisa was actually believed to have been commissioned by the Giocondo family, The painting was actually of Lisa del "Gherardini" Giocondo, the wife of Francesco del Giocondo a wealthy silk
merchant. Although the painting was commissioned, the Giocondo family never received this masterpiece, as da Vinci believed that the Mona Lisa painting was forever a work in progress. Why is art, in general, worth the attention? Art to me, in general, is a very important thing in life, it allows you to express your inner creativeness and beliefs, share a message, or just even be there for entertainment values. I think that art needs to be a wider funded academic in schools in general. As time's gone on funding for fine art programs in schools have declined due to the fact that they feel they need to put the money from the fine arts into different programs to increase "standardized testing scores." While I feel like having higher scores is a good thing to have, I still strongly feel that cutting funding into the Fine arts programs is a bad thing. Many studies have proven that Art, whether it be the visual arts, theater, dance or music, have actually made students more willing to be in school, it leads to them having better grades, and even them enjoying school in general way more. After doing that research I highly believe that we should keep studying art supporting the arts because of the many positive benefits that come from it.
