Why Was Ww2 Inevitable
This war is the most deadliest war in history involving more than 30 countries resulting in 78.5 million deaths overall. Sparked by Adolf Hitler’s invasion of Poland in 1939. The war would drag on for six years until the final Allied defeat of both Nazi Germany and Japan in 1945. World War II was inevitable for several reasons. By 1936, the United states began preparing for it which helped them out of the Great Depression. Many knew it was bound to happen. One because the people knew that Italy, Germany, and Japan were very powerful respective countries which had imperial and ideological ambitions, and were not afraid to use force to accomplish their goals. Many scholars believe that the Treaty of Versailles also contributed to World War 2.

So held The Nye Committee of 1936. At that time we did not want U.S. manufacturers to do business with Europe, however by 1938 that would change. This was a congressional committee that charged that company’s were guilty of getting the U.S. into WWI because of high prices and large profits, pushing us to go into war. So congress passed three U.S. neutrality acts for ‘35, ‘36’, ‘37. It prohibited any companies from selling arms to any side fighting, also loans, and no U.S. citizen can travel on any ship that is in the war. However by 1939, we create the Cash and Carry Policy. It says we’re still neutral, but we can now trade with France, China, and Great Britain and countries can now come to the U.S. and pick up their supplies for cash. This policy ended up favoring Great Britain. Then on september 2, 1940 we create Destroyers for Bases Deal. The U.S. agrees to give Britain 50 destroyers to help combat German submarines. It becomes obvious at this point that war was coming, and Roosevelt was eager for war. He signs the Selective Service Act of 1940, which is the first peacetime draft in American history. 1.4 million men were sent to train for war. This is another reason that made everyone clearly know we were getting ready for war. Then FDR was re-elected in 1940. In 1941 we started that Lend Lease Act which helped Britain while they dont have any money to buy supplies, we loan it to
