In this research paper I will be discussing the controversies with the Confederate Battle Flag known today as the “Rebel Flag” and the “Beauregard Battle Flag”. In this paper, you will see the National Association of the Advancement for Colored People (NAACP), this is an organization that helps protects colored people’s rights. I went about researching everything using the internet as my resource. My view on this topic is that the “Rebel Flag” should not be a thing that has as much attention as it has. It is quite offensive and people should be more careful.…

The argument of legalizing pot has been in question for years now. William Bennett, who served as the Secretary of Education under Ronald Reagan and a Drug Czar under H.W. Bush, wrote an article called “Legal Pot Is a Public Health Menace”, that is full of hard hitting facts. Though all his facts go against the legalization of pot, not all of them are trustworthy enough to decide whether or not to legalize pot. Most of Bennett’s facts are unrepresentative, unclear, or insufficient for the claim he wants to get across to his audience.…

The Confederate Battle flag is one of the most recognized symbols in the United States. It is not always a welcome symbol in today’s society. Take for instance the state of South Carolina having to remove it from its statehouse on April 12, 2000. The reason it is not always welcome is because people often misinterpret its true meaning. It is not a symbol of hatred but, a symbol of southern pride and honor. The pride and honor of all the men and women who carried it the flag into battle fighting for what they believed in, Southern independence.…

The confederate flag has been around for about 150 years. They are taking the confederate flag down from the battle ground and tv shows and now trying to ban it from school. They should not ban it because it goes way back. Just because the guy shot 9 black people, it should be banned. The confederate flag is a part of our hairitage, the civil war, and slavery. If you a confederate flag some people says it the hate that black and white have for each other and that's not true at all.…

Dress code has been the biggest topic between the Board officials and students. The dress code is used to prevent distractions; thus allowing students to come to school and dress with confidence. The Muscogee County School District’s (MCSD) dress code has been an influence to the students and teachers for thirteen years. Since the establishment thirteen years ago, the dress code has made many different changes in the dress code. The purpose of the dress code is to have other students understand the correct way of dressing themselves, the teachers do not take into opinion the kids view on this debate. Students can change the dress code by attending school board meetings and having approximately 75% of students signing a petition with an agreement saying that you want to change it. Most students feel that the dress code shouldn’t change and that maybe it can help one day like going on an interview or an oral presentation, students should want to look as if they are here to learn. “The difference between school and life? In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson.” (Bodett).…

The Confederate Flag, used during the Civil War representing the south, or the Confederacy, receives mixed opinions. While the majority of people-specifically 57%, according to a poll conducted by CNN-say it represents southern heritage and the fight for constitutional rights,72% of African Americans, 25% of whites say it represents what the ‘deep south’ fought for-slavery and racial supremacy. This may seem like a small percentage, but think about it. In a million people, twenty five thousand feel uncomfortable around the flag. For years the debate on whether the Confederate flag,…

If we have school uniforms next year, the teacher will have to make some rules for the school uniforms. Schools have rules, and so do the uniforms, but there will be so many rules for us to follow! Girls’ shirts have to be tucked in, or they have to wear a dress as a uniform. Some people don’t like to wear dresses or skirt. Their rules might also say that they have to wear a colorful tie or belt.…

This is where I am unsure about making the phenomenon a law to not allow Confederate flags or names. There are people out there who respect the flag with a passion. These are the Veterans. Veterans believe those names, objects, and the flag are all sacred. They believe they are memorabilia for the past and should be respected. Outlawing all these objects would not just anger most of them but disrespect them too. I remember when someone mention the flag on my grandfather’s hat, a War vet, and he was outraged. We do not need to go as far as banning these items in schools and in the community because we would be disgracing the Vets of our community. I believe we should just keep promoting the idea of taking down and getting rid of these objects to try to satisfy people but not disgrace others. Yes, not taking them down will send a mix message, like mentioned earlier, but we cannot seem to satisfy everyone so to do our best we just promote strongly to not promote these actions and not to have disgraceful objects at public schools were we are supposed to promote a non-segregated…

Some may even struggle to find something cute to put with or on their uniform that will not get them in any kind of trouble. School dress codes around the country. and some parts of the world, should be less severe. should not prevent individuality, and should not be difficult to follow.…

All around the United States more and more schools and switching to the idea of school uniforms. Schools think that this uniform policy will help bring down crime rates, gangs, improve the schools over all academic achievement, and level out social discriminations among students. Although this theory may become true to someone who wants it to be true, other skeptics looking into this are finding that these positive influences from uniforms are merely misconceptions. Schools’ academic achievements are not influenced by the clothes that students have on their backs. Neither is the crime rate in that school. There were theories that gang members could sneak into schools by wearing that schools uniform and blending in with everyone. Some students are even saying that uniforms will not stop them from discriminating other kids since they still know who is rich and who is poor. Although our society thinks that forcing students to wear uniforms to school will cure all problems, they better think twice. School uniforms should not be allowed in public schools because they are not cost effective, they deprive students’ rights to express themselves, and lastly, they do not increase the status of the school who adopted the uniform policy.…
