Why We Should Pay Students For Good Grades
Paying students for good grades? If schools truly want students to do well in school, then schools should pay students for their hard work. There are lots of ways why students should get payed for good grades. First of all, it prepares them for the world. Another reason is, that their test scores will increase because they are motivated to do well in school. In addition, it will increase the graduation rates in high school. From better graduation rates, to learning about work, to making kids smarter, there are many positive effects of paying students for good grades.

To begin with, schools should pay students for their hard work and they are also preparing them for the real world. Where they have to work hard for life to get money. ”Paying students helps them understand why they are needed to work hard for life.” Said by W.M. McGovern from the Ginger Ninja Essay. This means that students who are getting paid for good grades, will learn that it pays not to give up on something that might seem difficult. The effect of this is, when students see that they will be paid money to keep trying even when the task is difficult. Shouldn’t students experience the personal gain that comes from the persistence of completing a frustrating activity at school.

“There is also significant decreases in dropouts when students get paid.” Said by Wallace at John Hopkins University. This leads to motivate students to attend classes and learn more about the subject that they are studying. This means that they feel more connected in school and the activities. And they will more likely to graduate from high school. Clearly this means that more students will graduate from high school and they will be motivated to go to college if schools keep paying students for their hard work and for their good

Trey had positive appraisal and proper guidance, which allowed him to feel good about himself and to know the differences between right and wrong. He had parents that were very involved when it came to things such as school and chores at home. Being raised this way you would think that his parents wouldn’t want him to be around kids such as Ricky and Doughboy but I think his father may have wanted to his son to have the exposure to see that he has parents to both love and care about him where his friends don’t to see how when you do the things that his friends do that you will get in trouble and end up dead or in jail. Ricky has a decent strong self-concept because he receives positive appraisal from his mother but unlike Trey does he does not receive the same guidance. In his mothers eyes Ricky could do no wrong. Still in high school Ricky was already a father his mother sees him kissing his girl friend and warns them that is how they got their first baby, Instead of getting on him that he should be extra cautious she casually brush’s it off. Ricky doesn’t have that same role model figure to learn from as Trey does even though he had plans to go to college he was only going so he could play football and hopefully one day be in the NFL his SAT scores weren’t high enough when a recruiter came to talk to him through the movie we see that he is trying hard to study for the test and after his death we find out that he got his score high enough to get the scholarship everyone always focused so much on football that no one ever really stressed education to him. Doughboy on the other hand never received positive appraisal and always received negative appraisal especially from his mother she always told him how he wasn’t any good and that he would never amount to anything. When it came to him and his brother if anything ever when wrong their mother always blamed it on doughboy. From the time he was young Doughboy was in and out of trouble and it ultimately killed…

The topic of Source One is how explorers and colonists of the New World took part in horrific, illegal events to colonize the foreign lands, but yet they were not the ones who suffered from these events. This phenomenon is portrayed in the source through the image of a wanted poster for Christopher Columbus, where Columbus is wanted for several offences including: genocide, racism, initiating the destruction of a culture and rape. The poster also goes on to state that the reward for Columbus is “500 years of tourism”. The reward symbolizes how despite the atrocities that the explorers and colonizers took part in, they would be remembered throughout history for their accomplishments and not the horrendous events that brought them to those successes. The illustrator’s perspective on the source is the idea that colonizers of the New World were…

College athletes are the hardest working individuals in college. Balancing academics and sports is never a simple task and is especially challenging in college. The athletes are still required to achieve passing grades, although many of them will play professionally. Paying college athletes would benefit all athletes, providing a small stipend for all of the sacrifices they have made practicing, training, and traveling, in addition to school work.…

When a student becomes employed, they can save the money that they earned, which can benefit for their future education. To further explain, the interview “ Paying for College without Loans, Scholarships or Looting your Parents’ Retirement” by Steinburg, Jacques and Mr. Zac Bissonnette tells the reader how “ Saves $6 per hour of that throughout high school will have 24,960 in savings,”(Bissonette 13). Others may argue that working during high school can distract a student from their work, but the same article leads a different direction with that statement. Come on, are you really going to pay your kids money to do Their chores? Or are you going to say, “No sorry you made the mess clean it up on your own!’’? Some parents pay their kids allowance because they think that their kids will be more motivated to do their chores. This is not always the case, if parents pay their kids to do chores they may become less motivated to work at all. Kids need to do chores without being paid because they need to learn responsibility, kids would be less motivated to work if you pay them , and kids need to learn how to work for the things they want in life. If your child is just doing chores for money, then that's silly they are just going to want money one week to hang out with their friends, but the next week they don't need…

Graders and educators seem to emphasize assignments and grading for performance and understanding. The grading system basically labels a student’s image either being a smart/average/”dumb”. Knowing this will run very deep in how a child careers their self around school or when they have to do an assignment. The grading system makes the student more focused on what they can do to get the grade that is Above Standard than actually care about what they’re researching or learning about, this is assessing students and categorizing them basically in groups based on their knowledge and skill in the course. Teachers do try to motivate their students but it doesn’t always work and students begin to chase their grade and become disinterested in the course material. I saw a post the other day on why students cheat on exams to pass and the top reply was this “When students cheat on exams it’s because of our school system values grades more than students…
