Why We Should Pitbulls Be Banned
Pit Bulls have been looked down on in the media for many years. This has caused some towns to ban this type of breed from their town and even city limits, but is this a very reasonable ban? Are these dogs more dangerous than other dogs, or is it just the owner’s fault? What is the big deal? In my persuasive essay I will be talking about if people should be allowed to keep pitbull breeds or not. My three main points are: 1) it is not the breed, it the owner, 2) pit bulls make wonderful pets if trained correctly and treated caringly instead of fighting them, and 3) they are very good with younger children.
My first point was that it is not the breed, its the owner. Getting a dog is not like purchasing a piece of furniture that you will show

Pitbulls are loving, loyal, clown dogs who make great companions to those with active lifestyles. They love being with people and they always want to be included in everything that goes on, whether it’s a ride in the car, or a walk around the block. They can be very loving, caring dogs if the owner treats them right and doesn’t train them to fight other dogs for criminal reasons, etc. You should not judge pitbulls by what the media says about them. Yes, some pit bulls have attacked people, but not every single one has, so give the pitbull breed a chance and do not judge them because they have a bad “online media” reputation. A Pit Bull will do almost anything his owner asks of it. These dogs crave our attention and approval, and are very social with humans. This devotion to people has contributed to the bad reputation of Pit Bulls, because a bad person can use a Pit Bull’s eagerness to please to train the dog for nefarious or criminal purposes. Pit Bulls do not discriminate against humans for any reason. Even if they don’t like other dogs, they typically love humans and are happiest when they are with

The topic I choose to write about is “Pit Bulls – should this breed be banned?” Pit Bulls should not be banned. Over the past years in the United States, Pit Bulls have been portrayed as a breed who is extremely dangerous and untrustworthy that some States are banning ownership of this breed. This breed should not be banned simply because of unfortunate events. It is not until recently that the negative images these dogs are facing by the media started. One may hear or read headlines in the news stating “Child mauled by a Pit Bull,” or “Owner killed by a Pit Bull,” yet the media does not disclose that certain dog’s upbringing…

An Anonymous author stated, “Pitbull’s are beauty without vanity, strength without insolence, courage without ferocity, and all the virtues of man without the vices.” (Anonymous) As a Pitbull owner, I feel that Pitbull’s are often misunderstood animals. In reality any animal, pitbull or even a Chihuahua can be mean or gentle. Love and caring wins out with animals just like it does with humans. Affection is what creates a good or bad dog. Not their type of breed or genetic makeup.…

Despite this common opinion, an experiment was once performed. Fifty Pit Bulls were rescued from a fighting ring. Forty nine of the fifty dogs were rehabilitated. Some went to shelters such as Best Friends and many are well-loved family members today. The testing used to determine these dogs' ability to fit into society was exhaustive, extensive, and carefully carried out. Pit Bulls are different from other dogs and potential owners need to be made aware of the facts before considering rescuing or purchasing one. For example, a dog lover who has had Bichons all her life will be sorely surprised unless she does her homework and understand the bully breeds. Pits need a lot of structure, a very pronounced human alpha, training, exercise and lots of attention. The owner needs consistency, time, energy and quite possibly some…

They are quite loyal dogs. Pit bulls tend to make terrible guard dogs, they love people too much. However, this is not always a good thing. Pmarinc says “because pit bulls are so people-orientated they do not make good guard dogs. Unless you just want them to smother intruders with hugs and kisses.” Also, because pit bulls love their owners so much, they will do anything for them. Even if their owner is a criminal commit crimes. The myth that pit bulls are extremely vicious is false, pit bulls are only vicious if you raise them to be. I am writing about, should people be allowed to keep pit-bull dogs? There are alot of people who think pit-bulls are all mean. That is not true at all it all depends on how they are raised. If people are raised to be mean then of course there going to be mean, but if you raise them to protect your family and be nice when you say to be nice then they are. They are best to get when there pups because then you can raise them right instead of buying a full size one of someone and not knowing how they were raised.…

People label Pit Bulls as "Killer Machines.” Breed Specific Legislation, or BSL, are a set of laws that restricts or completely bans the breeds of a dog from an area. Pit bulls have been given a bad reputation because of all the publicity pit bulls have received. Many states of the U.S. are stuck between whether or not to ban the breed of pit bulls. People who agree with the BSL may have had a bad experience with dogs, or may fear that they’ll encounter an aggressive dog. Everyone needs to come to the realization that dogs behave a certain way due to treatment from their owners. People need to understand that the BSL is a form of breed profiling, in this case it discriminates against pit bulls. They also need to see that the label of, “Killer…
