Imagine your dog being put down or abused just because someone else thought he or she was mean when they actually are a really kind, loving, and loyal dog. In this paper I am going to talk about how I think that pitbulls should not be illegal based on people’s opinions of their reputation, I’m also going to talk about the different types of abuse they receive, truth and exaggeration, and training them.
There are many different types of abuse that can happen to pitbulls, and most of the abuse is using them to fight with other dogs, animals, and even people. Sometimes if they don’t do the job right by hurting the opponent severely, then they get hit or even abandoned. Pitbulls are treated very poorly in society …show more content…
today because of the stereotypes of being aggressive dogs, but in reality it’s not the dog it’s the owner or trainer. There are less and less pitbulls being taken care of, just because of this stereotype of them.
People don’t always look at the facts of pitbulls, they just exaggerate and say they are mean killing dogs and that it’s all they are good for because they have heard so.
Every time you chain a dog up, not just pitbulls, they get meaner and meaner every day, because what dog wants to be on a chain 24/7? All they want is to play with you and love on you. Chaining them up and leaving them out there for long periods of times, they will think they are being abandoned, or that you don’t even care about them. If you’re chaining your dog up for long periods of time then maybe you shouldn’t have a dog if you can’t give it the time and effort it needs to be an amazing dog. If you are treating pitbulls differently because you think they are mean, that’s animal cruelty too. They are pets just like any other animal in the world. Don’t abuse them just because you don’t know the facts about why they are mean, you should look up the actual facts and learn that they are just like any other …show more content…
dog.
Training any dog is very important, but training a pitbull needs to be done the right way or else he or she won’t want to listen to you and will think that they are in charge.
First thing is that you need to give them a lot of care and love, such as good food that will be healthy for them, cold water out all the time, and also take them on lots of walks or runs so that he or she can get all the exercise they need. You also need to give them their own area to stay and sleep in, or even a place just to relax so that they feel comfortable and relaxed at all times. Pitbulls like to have their own small space to do all of this in. However you don’t want this area to be their punishment spot, as then they won’t be able to sleep there because they will feel miserable, like they were being a bad dog, and as if they are not welcome in some circumstances. When pitbulls are young you need to train them not to bite. Yes, it might be a playful nip but when they are full grown, they will think it’s okay to bite people when it really is not. To help them learn not to bite people or certain things you need to get them chew toys so they can get their anger and playfulness out on something other than your hand. When they start to nibble or bite on you, you simply need to say no and show them that it hurts you so then they learn that something is wrong when they do that action. For all the training of pitbulls you mostly just need patience, time, and effort or they are going to take over. Be a
loving understandable owner and make sure you know the actual facts before you judge pitbulls.
In my conclusion to this paper what I would like to do is to stop pitbull abuse which is based on an opinionated bad reputation. I think that people should know what’s really going on and why they think they are so aggressive and mean. You need to know how to handle this type of breed, and do some research about them before you judge or abuse a pitbull again. You need to know everything that is going on inside of their minds so you know and understand how they need to be treated. If you can understand the Pitbull, they don’t turn on you and you can have a sweet and loyal dog.
