Why you should continue your education
What Should People with Education do.
By Dr. Michael E. Dyson

In the speech that Dr. Dyson had spoken, he had made some very strong points about what people with education should do. He touched on everything you could think of that was important. He once said in his speech “You can throw up the hood but don’t let the hood rest on your shoulders.” Its many people out there that have a decent education, but still lack common sense and that would try to help their “friends” who didn’t go out and get an education. They will never forget where they stayed at but have more friends when they come back then they actually left with. Those are not real friends they are using them to get what they instead of going out and getting an education for themselves so they can be successful for themselves.
Another quote from the speech is “Don’t make the same mistake as grown people make; make your own.” It’s people every day saying that they want to be like this person and that person that they know and follow right down the path that that person went down. That person could’ve person could’ve did the most outrageous thing and went to jail for it and you come around and do the same thing knowing the outcome of the situation. That’s not being smart; you know the consequences of it. Be smart and avoid that situation. Make your own mistakes just so that the outcome isn’t bad. Be yourself instead of trying to be that person that you think is cool because they went to jail for two years. You have to make a difference in this world, don’t be the regular person. Be that outstanding person who went and furthered their education at a college so you can be successful and say that you have a degree. Do something that s never been done before, go invent something that hasn’t been invented, make a discovery that no man has ever discovered. Be that person who goes above and beyond and not that person who just does what everybody else is doing. Make a name for yourself; where people will

Today is a wonderful millstone in my life , because I decided to go back to college and continue my education. I have been through many obstacles in my life and making the decision to go back to school will give me the opportunity to prove that just because you grow up in a bad environment does not mean that you can’t succeed in life or accomplish great things. There are others reason why I went back to school as well one of them being that it will increase my finical situation, and portray a positive role model for my daughter I grew up in Compton California which is a very poverty stricken area that is infested with crime, gangs, teen pregnancy and poverty. I was raised by my grandmother who tried to instill nothing but positive things in me. She made it clear to me that school was very important and without an education you may want to go far but won’t. I studied hard and obtained a full scholar ship to UCLA but I ended up getting pregnant with my daughter and quit.…

“The speech was about the Tuskegee Airmen and how their past, present, and future has affected us today. I focused on a lot of history” said Landin. “I’ve talked a few times to people, but I’ve never talked so many people before—it was huge audience. I felt very important, I want to be a leader when I want to me older and this has never really happened. I was really nervous when I got up there, but then a wave of confidence hit me and it was very memorable--it changed who I am. I wanted to teach them something, and I wanted to express my voice. I don’t care if they judge how I said it, because I’m sure I taught one person something. The Tuskegee Airman gave me two dollars for winning the contest—a two dollar lucky bill. Having the speaker made everything seem more real, because reading about it actually different from listening to someone. The speaker spoke about his time, and talked about it wasn’t a proud thing shooting down a Japanese airplane—it was a new perspective. He was passionate, and the majority respected it.”…

With the college drop out rate being almost 50%, it is clear to say that the structure of our educational system does a very poor job of functioning with students. We all have different personalities as well as ways of learning and interacting with others, however society still makes it mandatory for students to go to school. In today’s society most companies will not even look at your resume if you do not have some type of degree or diploma that states that you attended some type of school and therefore are considered educated. This is unfair to other people who have the experience they need and the knowledge of the field but their only problem is that they do not have a paper or “diploma” that states…

IT has been directly observed that there is a strong link to education in respect to mobility, choice, political influence, money. “Powerful evidence of the link include the fact that 46 percent of Americans who grew up in low-income families but failed to earn college degrees stayed in the lowest income quintile, compared to 16 percent for those who earned a college degree” (huffingtonpost). How can we expect citizens to have even the capability to function as an equal citizen, to participate in the democracy, to be educated voters, to work in the principles of fair play when they don’t even have the ability to function? Functioning in the contexts of being in “states of beings and doing that constitutes a person’s wellbeing” (pg 316 anderson). People are entitled to capabilities to empower them to deny these oppressive social relationships…

Whenever I hear the phrase "college isn't for everyone" my mind cringes at the thought of all the lazy people who walk amongst this earth. There are many things people deal with on an everyday basis that "aren't for everyone". Cancer isn't for everyone, losing a loved one isn't for everyone, and being put in situations, you don't ask to be put in certainly aren't for everyone. However, as human beings, we have to continue living our lives to the best of our ability. There are no excuses in the real world. There are no excuses to not have a decent education in order to make a living in our country. Some may not like the system but that's the way it works. If you have an education, more times than not you'll make enough money to get by. If you don't, you will be left with an underpaying job which usually involves hard work, and you will be the one petitioning for $15 an hour minimum wage. Education is important and sometimes a wake-up call is needed in order for people to realize this. I was one of…

Even those who wish to work face challenges. Society has reared even friends and family to belittle those who attempt to follow their inspiration. Those with jobs considered undignified or improper are seen as inferior in hierarchical fashion. Following the arts is considered a waste of time, whereas following science or math is considered spectacular. Careers such as lawyers, doctors, and engineers, are highly valued for the money they produce and the education they require. This is inherently harmful, not only to those who wish to follow other professions, but also due to it providing wealth inequality. Rather than health and happiness, money becomes the priority. Moreover, someone who is unable to acquire a higher education might not be seen as fit for most jobs. It is a vicious cycle, where people need degrees to land jobs deemed decent, need money to attain said education, and need education to obtain the…

After careful thought and consideration, I made the desire to return to school into a realistic goal. I had finally come to the conclusion, that it was time to take control of my circumstances, rather than continue to let my circumstances control me. The biggest decision for most incoming college students is to decide if they’re going to stay in a relationship with their current boy/girlfriend. Some students think it is best if they break up with their boy/girlfriend. The reason is because they have in their mind that they’re not going to have as much fun at college if they’re in a relationship. Another reason is because they do not trust their boy/girlfriend enough for them to stay together while they’re away at college.
