“Does science make faith in God obsolete? – No” written by Robert Sapolsky is an article written to debate about the long debated topic: creation or evolution. Kauffman says in the article that he doesn’t believe in a supernatural God; he is an atheist. He also says through his article that science doesn’t make god obsolete because he believes that both play their own part in the world.
According to Robert Sapolsky, the answer to the question, “Does science make faith in God obsolete?” is a no. Sapolsky says that he believes Science and faith don’t overlap in today’s world. He believes that there are times where science cannot explain things that faith and belief can, and there are times where faith has nothing to do with anything like creating a solution using scientific equations.
Robert Sapolsky believes that there has to be no argument about the two subjects, he says in his article, “So it doesn’t even make a whole lot of sense to frame a science/religion fight as who has the truthier truth.” However, he believes at times there is no argument about which one is better and usually that is science. He is right in saying that if a child is sick, it is better to give him medicines than just sit and pray for a long time.
When talking about what is better for the society, Robert Sapolsky says that neither is the best because science has had a lot of bad advances such as Lysenkoism, eugenics, lobotomies, but on the other hand, faith doesn’t provide anything much for the society except give them the comfort of there being someone who is taking care of them.
I agree with what Robert Sapolsky says for half the things. Firstly, I believe him when he says that science and faith serve different purposes. I believe that science only makes sense for some things but other than that, we need better explanations that can only be explained through faith. I also agree with him on the fact that there is no “truthier truth”. I disagree with him on the part
