Will Grayson, will grayson is a collaboration book between John Green and David Levithan where two separate stories of two teenage boys named Will Grayson collide. The first Will’s goal is to follow his rules he established for life. 1) Don’t care too much, and 2) Shut up. He spends most of his life following around his friend, Tiny Cooper, and repressing his feelings, as seen here, *excerpt 1*. The other will is a misunderstood, angry, angsty sort of kid. He hides everything he feels. This will has depression, not many friends, and a stressed out mom. He puts her through so much. *excerpt 2* The book may seem like it would be confusing to follow but there is a big difference between the two will graysons. One is Will Grayson with correct capitalization, and the other is will grayson, with no capitalization at all. This way, the reader can distinguish John Green’s and David Levithan’s writing.…

After reading the novel, O Pioneers! it was hard to judge whether it was a tragedy or a triumph. The only way I see it as a tragedy is that Emil and Maria died. I knew, since page six of the book that they were going to be together. It kind of broke my heart to see later on that she had married someone else. But when her and Emil got shot, I thought it may finish as a tragedy. But overall, I would see it as a triumph in the way that the Bergsons finally got what they wanted out of their land. It made them rich. Also, Alexandra and Carl finally married. And being that the whole novel was basically based on the land, they were triumphant in getting what they risked, what they longed for.…

Sentence One: Darcy McMurtery, in the satirical piece, “Invitation For Advance Placement Testing” published by McSweeney's Internet Tendency (2015), comically suggests that parents’ well-intended goal of raising academically and socially superior students differs from the actual results of pushing humorously extreme testing and preparation. Sentence Two: McMurtery exemplifies the asinine parenting of buying organic foods, fencing, and Brazilian Portuguese lessons that they believe will have a direct effect on their child’s testing scores. Sentence Three: The author’s purpose is to draw attention to ludicrousness of parents’ nonsensical actions and attitudes towards their child’s standardized testing scores.…

In Will Haygood's article, "Kentucky town of Manchester illustrates [a] national obesity crisis" which focuses on local families and how living in such a small town can take a toll on one's physical activity and appearance. Haygood writes this article to notify non-locals of the issue and to help make the town healthier and more aware of obesity. In his article, he essentially claims obesity rates are at their all-time high because of the lack of healthy foods, parks and recreation, and knowledge. While his argument is convincing, he could still provide a clear thesis, focus, and logical arguments to support his article.…
