William Bradford Vs John Smith Essay

John Smith took 100 English men into the wilderness of Virginia in 1607. John Smith went into Virginia to explore and find new land. William Bradford also brought 100 men aboard the Mayflower to go and explore the Plymouth. To Begin with, John Smith was the president of Jamestown. When traveling in the wilderness of Virginia he wanted to find new property to tell the colonist that this new territory was better than England. When arriving at Virginia he was captured by the tribe of the Powhatan and beaten. He also had much misfortune with food supply in his colony so when arriving at Virginia with 100 English men instead of giving food to them he kept food for himself. What he also did when he arrived at Virginia he started working on a map. Smith made it seem that he was in control even though many settlers didn't like him.
William Bradford took forth with him godly people to this new colony. When leaving the church of England, he and his godly people believed that England was corrupted and they needed the freedom to worship. William Bradford wrote about his struggles when arriving in this new colony. One of his struggles was the lack of food supplies so people started dying. Bradford was a hard worker and he told people about how hard he worked when arriving at the new colony. Bradford was a better leader than John Smith because if you consider it, he was caring about the people and he shared his food with his members even if they started running out but he was a hard worker. In Addition, John Smith and William Bradford had their differences, but they also had some similarities. The similarities they had where they both came from England and they went on to find new colonies and on their journey, they both found Native Americans that helped them throughout their journey in the new colony. Smith and Bradford also both suffered a death in their groups for the sake of less food
