What BI applied in this case? * Gain the knowledge of extracting the customers’ preferences by using Facebook * When people take photos and share comments about the campaign on the Facebook page, It can use text mining to obtain the comments and analyze their preferences. * Using web mining, such as Web Crawler, It could gather personal information about those people such as age and gender. * Text mining to extract that information and use association analysis to analyze the associations between their preferences and such personal information. * When people take photos and tag their friends on their Facebook pages, it can help company able to reach and target the potential customers.
By analyzing all the information gathered, it helps to design and implement other effective advertisement and products as well.
Coca Cola vs. Facebook - The Recycling King Campaign
What is the story about?
The Recycling King Campaign inspired by Coca-Cola. It used Facebook to be an online platform to increase people’s awareness for recycling plastic bottles in Israel. Coca-Cola created over 10,000 recycle bins locations to the Facebook system. Thousands participated and shared the recycling experience with their friends by checking in and uploading photos on Facebook. Everyone knew how easy it was to track the location of nearby recycle bins after the campaign. Coca-Cola was successfully using user-generated content to create such Viral Marketing, which is using the network effect to increase brand awareness. As the campaign promoted Corporate Social Responsibilities, many people supported and joined the campaign. They gave a “like” for the campaign on the Coca-Cola’s Facebook page, and therefore, all their friends and even friends of friends knew the notification immediately. Through the positive word-of-mouth, the viral marketing spread a good image geometrically for the company in a short time. It used far less advertisement
