Winston Churchill, was a man of eloquence; He proved on multiple occasions that he had extensive knowledge in politics, and was transcending in his writing. Overall, I believe that Churchill's life was rather accomplished, and his proficient nature was famous. Throughout his life Churchill was a considerable politician, a WWI army officer, and writer, who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom twice. His passion and experience was ever increasing, he was constantly fighting for his cause. As an accomplished Prime Minister, Churchill would bring Britain to victory during the Second World War. Later he became a military Lieutenant , this position earned him a wage of only 150 pounds a year. Soon after, Deciding that he would rather have a career in parliament, he directed his attention on politics, attending multiple Conservative meetings. He began writing for the Daily Mail and Morning Post, which earned him a small but steady income. Soon Churchill won his seat in the House of Commons, and was the youngest person to join at that time, that is when his maiden speech gathered numerous press coverage. In 1906, as a young man of the age of only 31, Churchill's biography of his father was published, a book he had been working on for several years. He received a mature payment of 8000 pounds, the highest ever paid for a biography in Britain to that point. That is what started Winston Churchill’s life full of …show more content…
He refused to talk about granting India independence. He had expressed his disgust at them when Mahatma Gandhi attended the Round Table Conference, saying “Indians are the beastliest people in the world next to the Germans”. He refused to divert food grain produced by Indians to save starving Indians. Churchill said that “wheat as too precious a food to expend on non-whites, let alone on rebellious subjects who are demanding independence from the British Empire.” At a War Cabinet meeting, he blamed the Indians themselves for the famine, saying that they “breed like rabbits”. Churchill preferred to collect the grain to feed European citizens after the war was over. Nevertheless , he did in the end relent.; when the Indians were set free by the British government (out of Churchill's control), he spoke to one of Gandhi's closest supporters, G.D. Birla, and said “Indians are in control now, make it a success , and if you do, I will advocate your getting much more.” Although Churchill did not regard their well being as he did his own, he accepted his loss, and made room for self

The article I read was titled, “Primary Sources: Gandhi’s WWII Letter to President Roosevelt and Reply”, by U.S National Archives. This article was about India’s leader of Independence Mahatma Gandhi, wrote a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt during WWII. The article stated the following points in Gandhi's letter,“Please understand that it is as a friend that I offer this plan. Britain must immediately end its rule of India. This is the only way to turn the bad feelings toward Great Britain into good ones. It will allow millions of Indians to help the Allies in this war.” meaning that Gandhi was offering a deal in which they offered to join them as allies in the war, but they could not do so because they were under British rule, in…

Therefore Britain did not care about Indians and their well-being, and instead only cared for their own profit and gain. In addition, Britain was able to control the Indian economy due to mercantilism. Mercantilism is the establishment of foreign trading monopolies. This can be seen in India where the British took raw materials from India, produced them in their own industries in Britain, and sold the finished products back to India (Textbook, pg. 358). Britain was able to control the economy because the imported goods were much cheaper than the ones made in local Indian industries.…

From Source A, "Map of African partition during European imperialism in the late 1800s", there is a picture of a map of Africa being controlled by the French and the British. At this time in the 1800s, ninety-five percent of Africa was being imperialized by Europe, leaving Africa with many problems. One of the complications that Africa had faced was the loss of money. Also, since there were so many countries in Africa that had been divided from one another, many problems outbroke. This similar situation can be shown in Source B, an excerpt taken from Gandhi's letter during his time prison. Gandhi explained how India has become "so that poor that she has little power of resisting famines" (Source B). When the British took control of India, the two were supposed to both find their advantages of the ruling. However, the only group that found benefits were the British.…

Gandhi stated among his people, “This is my hope and prayer. I wish these words of mine reached every nook and corner of the land. My task shall be done if I perish and kill my comrades. It will then be the Working Committee or the Congress to show you the way and it will be up to you to follow its lead,”(On the Eve of Historic Dandi March). In recent years, several studies have demonstrated that at least a small group of gamers has trouble controlling their online video game playing. Excessive amounts of time spent on playing online video games can be severely disruptive to school, work, and “real life” social contacts. It seems that online games, especially multiplayer online role playing games, are more often associated with video game addiction. Drawing parallels to other industries–such as gambling–which are heavily regulated, the issue of social responsibility of the video game industry is explored. Presently, online video game publishers provide neither referral services nor customer care with regards to video game addiction.…
