Remember the name of the people you are with, is a sign of respect in our society. Even if you don’t remember the name most of the time, we try an easy way out in order the name of the person involved in the conversation.
For this project I will ask them to repeat their name so before to speak with a person in the family I will ask him/her to tell me their name by saying: “So, what is your name again?” and then start talking.
I will do this because, being an exchange student, I will spend Christmas with my host family’s relatives that I never met before.

The experiment will take place at the home of my host family’s relatives during the Christmas Eve’s dinner.
I will observe more or less 15 people of the family and some friends that will be there after the supper.
On the Christmas Eve, me and my host family went to the house of their relatives at 5 o’clock. Some of their relatives were there but the majority had not arrived yet. A few number of people went to the Church and I then started the experiment.
When I had to speak with a relative, I always asked to repeat his/hers name before.
The first time could be just a normal behaviour: I could not remember the name of the people who I had not met before but after the second or the third time that I asked them to repeat their name, I almost did not succeed to stifle the laughter. Only a person seemed bothered repeating to me its name; but the others have been all very kind and helpful. I think indeed that they were surprised by the fact that an exchange student care about to know the name of the host-family which is not the reaction I imagined for this kind of experiment. The experiment last for about an hour and a half, the time to ask at least all the participants to repeat their name more than one time.
