A single sport is not for everyone. Similar to running, not everyone can or wants to take part in a single sport as they may feel it is not for them. Basketball, the main sport during the winter for our school is not meant for everyone. Many students who do not play basketball in the winter have other abilities to snowboard, ski, or ice skate. The two sports offered, cheer and basketball, are not sports that involve the winter season and are not ample opportunities to use student’s abilities who want to play a winter sport. Also, the enlargement of winter sports will increase student involvement in the winter. The offering of only a single sport creates a deficit of student involvement. Indeed, clubs and student council increase involvement in the winter. However, those are small extra-curricular activities and involve few students. Many students are not involved in the winter and adding a winter sport would involve many more students. This addition of a winter sport would also utilize student’s talents and abilities by increasing student’s satisfaction. Many students enjoy sports and want to be a part of them. Numerous students have talents and abilities they long to use, and adding another winter sport would satisfy them with the opportunity to use them.
