In the previous seminar that I wasn’t able to attend on time, I learned some helpful information that will be beneficial throughout my semester in this class. All the basics were broken down so clearly by my professor. Such as, what to do when you have a question private and not as private. If the question is private you can just simply e-mail the professor and he will get back to you within a twenty-four time period. Also, for the questions that aren’t as private you can just simply post it in the discussion board, therefore your fellow classmates can help you with your problems. As stated by my professor we are all in this together. Furthermore, I was taught how to maneuver my way around the online page. For instance, how to submit work in the dropbox. You just have to go to the dropbox tab and go to submit assignment and then browse. After browsing for your assignment you will attach and send. This way your work will be there in time for grading. In addition, it is stated to never delete your saved assignment due to a disruption while it is being graded. If you don’t save it and it is told to you it’s not submitted then you will have to do the assignment all over. Moreover, I learned the many different ways getting to know my classmates. The discussion board is a very good source of that because, you can have discussions of different facts and opinions. Also, sometimes even provide more details from what you have studied or researched on. Another way to connect with your peers is to just e-mail them to get information correctly, get to know them better and even meet. Even though I never e-mailed anyone I am still comfortable in knowing their views on certain things. All in all I believe the seminar is a good way to know what you are up against for that following week. An hour a week on a specific day is not bad at all. Also, you can be active while being a part of it. Asking several questions and who knows your classmates can sometimes answer the question as

Week one was a little tense for me. But after meeting the instructor and my classmates in the class café’ I felt more at ease and ready start learning. Firstly, I learned to be an online student was going to require a lot of technologies I may not be familiar with. At that time, I was introduced to the good and bad sides of technology, such as going to school online or cyber bullying. Then, I came across relevant guidelines and documents, such as The Academic Writing Expectations Checklist; a checklist to ensure writing meets academic standards, and the Assignment and Discussion rubrics. Rubrics are requirements and principles used to mark work. Eventually, in the week one discussion, I realized that I need to be careful how I put words online. People have feelings, whether, good or bad. Be aware of what and how you write online (About us - Copy-Editing for Uni Students. (n.d.)). Stay conscious of how people perceive what you put online. Be kind, professional, objective, and sympathetic with views. More importantly, I acquired the knowledge of how imperative it is to have a printed emergency plan available, just in case of mechanical failure(John Rayworth: FLUTE List Assistant - Larry Krantz. (n.d.)). The paper includes a backup plan for your computer, phone numbers and email…

Novice members, like myself, can learn from advanced members and grow into full participating students by collaborating with one another more often, which is a huge component amongst teachers, because interaction influences learning. Peers grading peers work prevents lazy work and therefore more students put forth more effort and have higher quality posts. Students being transparent of personal reasons of why they are struggling or missing an assignment can foster camaraderie and support amongst one another thus influencing us all to stay motivated and persevere. Online learning is entertaining oneself by being actively involved and putting in quality work over quantity, and being open to constructive…

The University of Phoenix’s classes that I am taking are all online. I start by accessing the Internet and logging into my ecampus student home page. There I am able to access my classes and see all my needed tools listed under each class. One of the main items you have at the University of Phoenix is your participation grade. You earn that grade by completing discussion questions and participating in discussions in the electronic forum. The electronic forum consists of the Main forum, the Chat room and the Course Materials forum. In those forums you will find all of your discussions. The discussion topics are all threaded discussions so you are able to follow each topic easily. One of the things I like about the electronic forum, is that you receive feedback from not only your professors, but all so your peers. This feedback is helpful for me to learn about the others views as well as mistakes or corrections I need to make. With my busy schedule the part of the University of Phoenix that best suits me is that your course work falls under the Asynchronous communication model. This way I am able to complete my course work at anytime during the week no matter what part of the world I am in. It gives me the flexibility to be able to attend college unlike the traditional Synchronous communication style of schooling.…

Hey Gaby, I just started my class online with the University of Phoenix, let me tell you a little bit about it because I know you were interested in going back to school as well. Online courses are also known as distance learning, which means that you are earning your education via online. Instead of being in a traditional classroom setting and having that face to face contact with your teacher, distance learning is student centered instructional format that allows you to take courses without having to commit to a regular campus attendance. I personally enjoy doing distance learning; so far I have been able to easily concentrate on my work. The reason why I chose to do distance learning is because I really have a hard time attending regular face to face classes due to my work schedule, very much similar to the situation you are in Gaby. Just like your goals I want to continue to pursue my degree further and I didn’t want to stop attending school so I chose this avenue. Distance learning is a field where instructional systems are designed to deliver education to students who are not able to physically be in classroom site. In my opinion I think you would enjoy distance learning and you would be able to focus a lot easier. I really enjoy doing it because I love working with computers, some people say that they do not like it but most people that I have spoken to say that they really enjoy it as well. You should really try it I truly recommend it; I was scared at first because I was concerned about having questions that I would like to ask my teacher in person and via online you do not have that opportunity. The method used to communicate with your professor and or classmates is through forums and thread discussions. In these forums and threads you post your questions and responses to other posts as well, somewhat like a live chat room. This is referred to as asynchronous communication; because you are not receiving feedback onsite like you would in a regular face…

We had been introduced to seminar sessions in our second week of starting the course, seminars were introduced. I enjoyed my first seminar more as I was allowed to express myself and the class was not too big. However, what we did in the first seminar was we got to know one another and different personalities of others. We had been given a blue book which had our seminar exercises and some notes for us to help us with our seminar exercises. We did a case study on understanding human behaviour followed with questions to ensure I was aware of what the topic was about and giving me a brief introduction of what seminars would be like and we also had to analyse a diagram on organisational behaviour which was pretty straight forward and we ended the first seminar with indulgency patterns to broaden our knowledge for human resources as the first seminar was a rather straight forward session.…
