America to gain the right to vote, she is still recognized for her bravery and independence.
Alice Coachman (1923–2014) was the first black women to win a gold medal in the olympics. In
1958 she showed the world her talent in the London Olympic Games. while being apart of the
American team.She went on to support young athletes and older, retired Olympic veterans through the Alice Coachman Track and Field Foundation .She's also been inducted into nine different halls of fame, including the National Track & Field Hall of Fame and the U.S. Olympic
Hall of Fame.
Sandra Day O'Connor (1930-) was the first woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. She retired in 2006, after serving for 24 years. A main reason for her retiring was to spend more time with her husband who suffered from Alzheimer's. She will be remembered has always serving a guiding hand and has a swing vote to many important cases.
