Work Interest Assessment

My results for the work interest assessments were social, investigative, and conventional. Social has to do with helping people. Social people tend to prefer working with others and taking on a team approach to dealing with problems. They typically get along well with other people and enjoy meeting new people in group settings. Investigative refers to thinking and problem solving. People in this category typically work in jobs that deal with science and the use of computers. Conventional relates to organization. People in the conventional category like to follow plans and be organized. Also, they tend to pay attention to small details.
My results from my personality assessment were orderly, perceptive, reliable, precise, dependable. Being orderly I pay close attention to details and like to have a clear understanding of things. I am sympathetic and care about the well-being of other people. I prefer having necessary information before I make decisions. Also, I like accuracy and I patiently look
at details and procedures, so that I can gain a good understanding of things.
The key career fields and employment fields that were identified based on my results were healthcare, education, and psychology. A few things that these careers have in common are that they help others and work within group settings. Also, these career fields are in the science or social science field, which are two subjects that I find interesting. Nurses work with other medical professions to help patients who are sick. Psychology typically has to do with counseling, which helps others with their psychological issues. The career field education can be teachers, professors, or even health educators. Jobs in the education field teach others and work with other people, such as students or faculty members. The others careers that matched my work interests have a connection with nursing because they all aim to help people. Nurses can be caregivers and educators, which relates to the other career fields from my results. Teachers and psychologists are educators and caregivers as well. Some of the jobs within the healthcare field that were identified based on my results were physical therapist, health psychologist, and midwife. Even though these jobs are not in the nursing field they can relate to nursing. These jobs are in a health care setting and involve background knowledge in a health care major. These types of jobs are social since they aim to benefit others and are hands on jobs.
One job from my work interest assessments that had to do with technology, was a computer science professor, which I thought was interesting.
I think it is important for anyone to have background knowledge with computers systems because technology is constantly growing in society today. Nurses and many other professions use computers daily, which is why it is important to have a basic understanding in computer skills.
The self-assessments were very helpful in exploring career possibilities. I was able to gain a better understanding of my interests, such as my skills, personality, and values. The self-assessments gave me a list of possible career fields and professions that matched my interests. This allowed me to explore other career fields and learn about the other employment opportunities out there that best matched my personal attributes. The self-assessment can be helpful in the future by allowing me to discover which type of nursing field I would want to specialize
in.
