HISTORY
The business began in 1940, with a restaurant opened by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California. The company began as a barbecue restaurant and in 1948, they reorganized their business specifically as a hamburger stand selling burgers for 15 cents. Their initial drem was to reinvent the term “Fast food, Fast service.” that white castle had created two decades earlier. However, Richard and Maurice were not necessariliy the creators of the idea and dream. Ray Kroc is the founder of McDonalds, he opened the first offcial McDonalds in Des Plaines. Illinois on April 15th 1955. The red and white tiled building with the golden arches was created by Architect Stanley Meston in 1953. First day sales of the first McDonalds made $366. By 1965, there was 700 McDonalds. They expanded internationally to Canada and Puerto Rico on 1967. They added their 5,000th restaurant in Japan by 1978. In 1992 they broke record opening day sales in Warsaw Poland.
Parts of becoming the worlds most famous fast food chain was having something to be specifically known for. McDonalds original mascot was “SpeeDee” a man with a chef’s hat on top of a hamburger shaped head. He was later replaced by “Ronald McDonald” in 1967.
In the same year McDonalds changed their mascot, the company filed a logo trademark on an overlapping, double arched “M” symbol. The cool thing about the McDonals arches is that both the original and new design create parabolas. The only difference is that the original design consisted of one arch, and the new design consists of two.
The Old McDonalds fast food chain looks. And the new or the modern McDonalds looks.
