Worst Form Of Government
In the words of Winston Churchill, “Democracy is the worst form of government, except all others that have been tried.” This quote is enough to explain the position of the United States government today. Churchill explains that no government is a good government, and unlike many Americans today think, this includes democracy. There is no hiding the fact that the governing body of the United States has been increasingly at odds with the will of the American people. From the 2016 presidential election, to the Keystone XL and Dakota Access Pipelines, we can see that the United States government has been intruding on individual and state rights, and that we the people need to become more engaged in asserting our rights.

One example of this general upset is the decision by newly elected President Donald Trump to continue the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. However, if we look at the Constitution, the President, who is the head of the Executive branch of the government, is never supposed to have the power to issue his personal agenda in such a way. The purpose of the President according to the Constitution is quote, “Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States.” The Constitution also goes on to give the President the power to make treaties, appoint ambassadors and Supreme Court judges, all with the majority vote from …show more content…

Under the Constitution, the American people will always retain the true power in the government however, words must be followed up by action. “Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth.” But,” the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, but truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.” It is because of our inactivity in our government over the past years that we have reached this state.
