1) Write a short summary of the movie. (200 words)
Having been unjustly expelled from Harvard, when a stash of cocaine is found in his possession, journalism-student Matt moves to London, to live with his sister Shannon, her husband Steve and their only child. Upon arrival, Matt is quickly introduced to Steve’s pompous and cocksure younger brother Pete. Though Pete is reluctant to be acquainted with Matt (initially), he eventually gives in after a huge drinking session with his friends and Matt, which quickly changes his apparent opinion of Matt. When trying to return home, after a football match, Matt falls victim to a serious beating, barely saved by the “return” of Pete and his friends. Frightened by his discovery and the violence, which follows, Matt soon ends up just as desensitized to it as his newfound friends.

The violence… it grew on me. .. you don’t feel alive unless you are pushing yourself as far as you can go”.
Previously Matt had solely lived his Ivy League-life, to make his father proud. The “journalistic aspect” of his life did interest him (probably why he kept a journal, whilst mingling with the GSE crew), though the main reason must have been him, really wanting to become Carl’s “golden boy”.
Matt has (up to this point in the film) not just helped recreate the good ol’ GSE, but played a huge part in making the West Ham United-firm rediscover themselves and what they stand for. He has for once in
