First, On pg. 8 he says “Getting Naomi to marry old Peter Durang is unthinkable.” He wants Naomi to be safe and happy and she will not be happy with Peter because all he wants is more wives than anyone. Then, On page 19 “Come on Naomi. You can’t do that. Listen Wol also thought about this. And he sent me to ask you have offered to become engaged for one year.” Stephen thinks that this might work because he doesn't want her to marry old Peter and run away. Lastly, On page 43 “ Shouldn’t Naomi come with us and leave the animals?” he asked “She can hide with us. Won’t that be safer?” he is trying to protect Naomi because he wants her to be
