Yellow Love Research Paper
Yellow Love

You were a surprise. A big yellow furball of love and licks. I had no idea you were going to be waiting for me in the backyard of my house when I arrived home considering our other puppy had just passed away. I had been at camp that following week and had come home to a four legged baby that I couldn’t take my eyes off of. You were so cute as you stood there staring at me. I knew you were mine the second I saw you. I was so excited that tears ran down my face and I called your name. I watched as you ran to me. Your fat rolls flapping in the wind as you ran to me and stained my brand new white jeans with your monstrous muddy paws. I didn’t care. Your soft baby fur was so velvety soft, your pink little nose wet with drool and your

I took the old hose that we kept coiled up in the shed and attached it to the sputtering water faucet. As the water sprayed over your little body the mud ran down your legs and revealed your your velvety soft baby yellow fur. We walked the trails trails in the backyard exploring till the sun went down later that night. I wanted you to know every little thing and section about your forever home. You laid down as you consumed all of your dinner in less than 60 seconds. As though you had never seen food before Even though you had just eaten that morning. You stayed in the living room hiding with your whole body under the couch except for your little whiskered nose poking out as my family and I ate our dinners. I threw you little popcorns even though I wasn’t supposed to when my family and I were all in the living room watching scooby doo marathons. The TV was turned off and everybody headed off to bed. I laid with you as you fell into a deep slumber. Rubbing your velvety soft ears and telling you stories of your forever home. You whimpered and kicked as you slept. Dreaming puppy dreams. You were the highlight of my last few weeks of summer. My bundle of joy that I knew would always be there to listen to all my secrets and would never tell.

Helmer condescends to Nora by calling her names and forbidding her from eating macaroons, the way a father might treat their child. During Helmer and Nora’s first encounter in the text Helmer addresses Nora, “ Is my little skylark twittering out there?” (1.4 1-4) A skylark is a common type of bird. By calling Nora a “little skylark,” Helmer proves to consider his wife as nothing more than a common bird in his life. Helmer just as easily could have looked out the window and spoken to his pet bird, but instead Helmer addressed his wife this way. After Nora is addressed as a “little skylark” she eats macaroons until Helmer summons her, at which point Nora “Puts the bag of macaroons into her pocket and wipes her mouth.“ (1.4 9) Nora hides the macaroons…

There are no prerequisites for love and belonging, we are deserving of love and belonging simply by reason of existence. This is one of the abounding stunning ideas found in Brené Brown’s work. However, this was such a foreign idea to my way of being and of relating to the world that I had no salutation node towards it nor an A-ha moment. Only after repeated readings and listening did the clouds disperse. Theoretically I recognized its truth, but at some level I felt this truth did not refer to me.…

Stories are pieces of history passed down through generations. However, as those old stories are told again and again many of the pieces get lost in translation. This results in the same old story with new details. The longer the stories are told the more details are added or lost, and before long the old story that was accurately told is gone and is replaced with a completely new story filled with fabricated details that would be almost unrecognizable to the ones who told the original tale. In the story, Yellow Woman Leslie Marmon Silko writes stories that include Native American folktales.…
