Your Guide to Beach Safety
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution(RNLI) is a charity that save lives at sea around the British Isles. They provide leaflets with instructions and advises on beach safety.

This text appeals to:

Beach Swimmers :
It hows how they should be safe and how to act in a emergency.
“it only took minutes for the rescue boat to arrive”

Surfers:
It also shows how to be safe and ways to prevent an accident.
“surfboarders . . . surf between the black and white flags”

Genera public :

It shows how to be safe and gives warnings to them to prevent any unnecessarily accidents to occur.
“know your flags”

Use of Pictures and Graphics/Diagrams

1. Picture 1 :
The writer give a sense of safety to parents as he used a picture of two kids having fun at the beach. This tells his readers that they don’t have to worry as the RNLI lifeguards will ensure their kid’s well-being. On the other hand, it also alerts them by using children who are unaware and ignorant of their safety at sea.

2. Picture 2 :
The picture shows a mother and son smiling which indicates that they’re happy and relieved that her son was safe after such a frightening incident. The writers wants to scare the readers that not only children’s safety is on the line, but people of all ages should not let their guard down.

3. Diagram :
Diagrams are used in the leaflet to show ‘How to Get Out from Rips’. The writer used diagrams so that his readers can easily understand the instruction given. Besides that, he also wants to teach his readers to overcome this situation when it occur.

4. Picture 3 :
The picture shows the RNLI lifeguards saving a victim at sea. This shows that the RNLI is reliable and the public can reassure their safety in their hands. This image also promotes their charity so more people to donate or volunteer to work as a lifeguard. Besides that, the picture displays them as a hardworking team who dedicated themselves to ensure the public’s safety but rising their own
