To better understand students that experience the school-to-prison pipeline, it is important to understand how race/ethnicity has a role in how Zero-tolerance policies are implemented in schools. Throughout the history of the United States, Caucasian Americans have been identified as the dominant population; resulting in minority populations to be labeled as suppressed. Many individuals who are labeled as minorities have experienced unfair and injustice treatment when compared to their Caucasian peers. Similar tactics have been found to exist in schools throughout the United States, where minority children have experienced unfair and injustice treatment from teachers and administration. Consequently, the combination of Zero-tolerance policies and racial injustice makes it difficult for minority children to remain in their educational settings and achieve greatness through education; resulting in juvenile/criminal justice systems to become heavily populated by minority
