Ziggurats
Nicholas Baloglou 10/28 /10 English Why did they make ziggurats? Ziggurats are found in ancient Mesopotamia. Ziggurats were built for the gods. Sumerians were polytheistic. This temple was built in the center of the city-state. The ancient ziggurats were made out of mud brick and they were all solid. This building also contains the stairway to heaven. They had the stairway to heaven because when someone dies they walk up to heaven.Since the ziggurats were so important they put them in the middle of the city-state. It was in the middle of the city-state because everything takes place in the middle of the city-state. Religion was important to the Sumerians. Only the priest and the king were allowed up onto the ziggurat. The citizens would bring offerings of food to the gods. They brought the offerings up to the stairway to heaven. The king and the priest ate the food for the gods. As you can see ziggurats are very religious. In conclusion ziggurats were important. Sumerians thought it was important to there life.
