If your asphalt driveway is still fairly new and in good shape, you should consider having a sealcoat applied to protect it from deterioration. During exercise the demand for oxygen increases as the respiring cells require more oxygen to meet the increased demand for energy, there’s also an increased removal of carbon dioxide, (Burton, Stokes, & Hall, 2004). Carbon dioxide is a by-product of aerobic respiration (as well as water and heat). In this experiment Douglas bags were used to collect expired gas to be used for analytical purposes. Douglas bags enable readings of both carbon dioxide and oxygen to be taken with the use of a Servomex Analyser, as well as total gas content using a dry gas meter and pump. The analysis of these results can be used to determine the gross efficiency of an athlete, Douglas bags are used as a gold-standard approach due to their high reliability (Gregson…

However, the first lunch boxes weren't for kids at all. In the late 1800s, blue-collar workers carried their lunches to work in metal pails, which protected their food from the rigors of the workplace. In fact, your lunch pail illustrated your place on the economic scale -- a lunch pail meant you couldn't afford a hot noontime meal. This didn't stop children from wanting to emulate their working parents, however. Soon enough, kids fashioned their own lunch pails from tin boxes that were originally used to hold cookies or tobacco. Early mass-produced lunch pails for children resembled picnic baskets and featured illustrations of kids playing.…

The late 1800s and early 1900s, during the era of post Emancipation, the United States was a period of identity exploration, enlightenment, and empowerment, as well as interdivision, discrimination, and adaptation for the African American peoples. Social revolutionists like Marcus Garvey and role modeled entrepreneurs like Madam CJ Walker were among the many blacks that influenced the national black community during their time of struggle and search for societal and economical direction. Walker and Garvey both strived for the advancement of their people, but had different long term effects on blacks and plans for the future. Walker’s use of Eurocentric ideals to beautify Black features socially and economically carried her higher than any woman, let alone black woman, in the business world. Her use of advertisements created a standard of black beauty in America that would gain acceptance. Garvey’s efforts to create a movement glorifying Afrocentric culture and lifestyle resulted in criticism from his own people and federal attention. These historical figures in the African American community were a part of a long lasting conflict of identity within the black race and the continuation of developing a black American culture completely different than African culture, creating a disparity between what it means to be African and African American.…

On top of that these schools were often to small to accommodate kitchen’s or cafeterias. Students were encouraged to bring such items as soups or macaroni in a pint jar. The pint jars were set into a bucket of water on top of the room heater or stove, and by lunch time such foods would be hot! Schools placed a lot of stress on this method insisting that hot food was key to the children’s…
