This job can provide answers to those who wonder why animals act or acted the way they did by studying them and observing their lives. In order to become a zoologist you would need a doctoral degree and a major in zoology/biology, although a bachelors degree would be the minmium requirement. Staying local would be great, so a University you can attend is San Diego State Univeristy. A Zoologist would need to work in a clean, well-lighted and equipped laboratory. Some zoologists do work outside in the animals natural habitat. When working in this major some skills that are needed are communication, operation of scientific equipment, critical thinking skills,bio theory and practical knowledge. These animals are observed for long periods of time, they are tracked by zoologists and a lot of research is done on them. This major is misunderstood in many different ways. One way it's completely misunderstood is because many people say that zoologist get in the animals lives to much and bother them. Zoologists have a way of studying animals from a far, not going right in the face of these creatures. They have love for these animals and want know how they live and act. With this passion zoologists find themselves organizing studies of animals, writing reports on them, and letting others who share the same interest as them know what these animals are like, such as school presentations and interest groups.
