This story was very odd but was a good book. The fiction of this story is tied to reality in a very unique way, that is very effective in making the story not feel very fantasy. This feature made the book truly more enjoyable. Other writing techniques like not having any foreshadowing. The book keeps you guessing until the very end. Even within the story parts that I had never seen coming, Like releasing the prince. Allowing Alix to run away and eventually return on curiosity.…
This book report discusses the plot, significant characters, setting (e.g., time of the story took place, historical background), problems and resolutions, themes or messages of the story. A reflection of the author’s writing style will be presented followed by a conclusion.…
Isaac Cline dealt with perils that no one should have ever had to endure. Erik Larson was very good at describing what he thought and saw, but a little too much. His descriptions were too lengthy and the subject didn’t catch my attention until much later in the book. The book was written very well it excluded the too familiar he said she saids. The language flows with clarity and precision. His recount of the storm’s destruction sucks you into the dramatic effects as the storm takes over the town. Some of my favorite parts of the book are in the beginning I love the metaphors and similes. The beginning catches you by taking you across the world to Africa, “It began as all things must, with an awakening of molecules. The sun rose over the African highlands east of Cameroon and warm grasslands, forests, lakes, and rivers, and the men and creatures that moved and breathed among them; it warmed their exhalations and caused…
The level of detail that is included is incredible, and although there is no traditional 'story-line' to keep the reader hooked, Hal doesn't even try to dress it up - it's a very well-written, factual overview of the situation, getting a lot of details across very quickly. I like this style of writing, as there is no drama involved with it, its just very accurate and to the point. The list of 'important' personnel is very interesting, and I have already bookmarked it - I'm sure it'll be very, very useful later on.…
This book is a very interesting read, if you have some self discipline. I mean that you need some self discipline because this book didn't really captivate me in the sense that I couldn't put it down. But after reading it for a while, I started to appreciate the author's way of describing the characters and actions in this book.…
The first thoughts I had about the text were very surprising to me because I actually thought the topic was interesting and very captivating. The author’s style really motivated me to pay attention to details and the story. I also enjoyed how descriptive she is when recalling her events because it helps make the text interesting to digest.…
My Opinion: I would say this book is very well written it gives very good detail of all the characters and the setting. When reading it you can clearly picture what is going on and where it is going…
This book is organized like most other novels in chronological order with chapters and is orientated in third person. It was very readable and honestly an enjoyable read. The only flaw I see is the amount of dialogue that is in this book. John Allyn…
Two books that I have read this year are Of Mice and Men and Fahrenheit 451. These two books have characters that emerge out of a state of emergency. There were many reasons that triggered these characters actions, but the main one was that they both lived in a world in which the government censored their knowledge. While Guy Montag and V both emerge in similar ways, they both have their different roles in their world that lead them to their emergence. Montag is caused by first being a part of the government and then realizing that he is the one that is censoring the world. V is a victim of the government all his life, and he can not take it any longer, he must take a stand.…
I wouldn't recommend this book to the average reader. It is a bit hard to read because the author goes into so much depth that the reader could very often forget the main idea. It is a good, informative book but a bit drawn out.…
It was quite boring and not much occurred until near the end of the book. Subhi’s mother lies in bed sleeping for most of the story, while Jimmie and Subhi constantly meet up with each other to tell stories. I was hoping for some more action and conflicts to help stay interested. Nevertheless, it is difficult to find anything else not to like about the book. The writing style is fantastic, it flows smoothly, and it gives a great view of what it is like to live in a detention center or refugee camp.…
I personally enjoyed this book because it has action, drama and mystery. It would be known as an easy read that held my attention from the agony and suspense. This book is a good mixture of family, school and teenage problems, which can connect to real life situations. The author gives descriptions of the places; people and she describe them with actual facts. They pass through true problems, especially Darcy a well-developed character. Anne Schraff was very detailed with the selection, making it easy to picture.…
I start reading this book with bad mood. I hate to read books, especially the book not written by English. It will always be a disaster for someone to read the book that not written by their first language. However, this book really blows my mind. Bod Focazio and his special style of humorous told me this is a knowledgeable and fun book. This book gives me a lot of things that will be used in the future; this book really is a guide to me. One day, if I could be a successful person, this book really played an important role for that. A great gift to his dad and his dad must be very proud of him.…
‘Year of Wonders written by Geraldine Brooks creates an extraordinary sense of perception between the ordinary situations in the daily life of Eyam and the extremities that the village must face in order to survive. Both the antagonist and protagonist carry out actions that define the very worst and very best in human nature, respectively. These certain actions can be identified by the observation of the central character Anna. Through her experience and ordeals, the readers are able to grasp a clear understanding of Anna and her setbacks in which she is able to overcome by her strong willed nature and her desensitization of her past and present. On the other hand, the intentions of Aphra and Josiah Bont is not only portrayed as neglectful parents during the novel, but also takes the attributes of a selfish, greedy, and maledict character.…
One thing James Dashner is good at is Storytelling. Making up this world and coming up with all the plot twists, he's a very talented writer. He tends to write creating suspense, making the next plot twist come at the right moment and right time, making you want to go on to the next chapter. James made it literally impossible for me to try and figure out what was going to happen. Like many of the characters in the book, I had no idea who I could trust or believe. Some of the plot twists and answers some things I questioned, but overall it was a fast-paced tale that easily drew me in, and it will draw you in too that’s why I recommend this book to everyone.…
