A Good Career Is the Key to Happiness
In today's modern world, many people are looking for a great career and happiness. Happiness is hard to understand that it depends on people. Many people now think a good career is the key to happiness. However, others hold a different stance. I agree with both sides of the argument to some extent. This essay first considers the argument that a good career can bring happiness. It will then consider the counter arguments.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why I agree that a good career is the key to happiness. Firstly, high income and money as the most significant symptom of wealth, possessing a lot of money has become a unique pursuit of many people, especially young generation, around the world. They are convinced that happiness can buy by sufficient money. Secondly, high standard of living, a high income means people will have more money to buy thing to improve their standard of living. Sometimes the things such as the goods can improve there live. Example in food they could buy the expensive seafood to be they’re eating that they never buy before. They also can live bigger house. That’s all is an example for increasing of standard of living. On the other hand, I disagree to some extent. To begin, have an honest and balanced relationship with yourself (understanding your needs, understanding your goals and dreams, understanding which road you want to take). That is easily way to happiness for many people. Do not work hard. Moreover, if we have a good career then we cannot have time for family. I think Spending time together as a family is the key to happiness In conclusion, this essay has argued that a good career is not essential to happiness, although it is clearly valuable. It has argued that on the one hand. High income and money can improve high standard of living. However, it has also argued that have an honest and balanced relationship with your-self. Therefor spend time with family. People should not think a career is the key to

The true contents of happiness are stated in the article “A Formula for Happiness” by Arthur C. Brooks, the president of the American Enterprise Institute. Brooks states that people realize life and view happiness depending on genes, one-time events and basic values: faith, family, community and work. He pays special attention to the last one. According to Brooks, meaningful work and success considered as passion can make people happier. Brooks cites as an example Franklin D. Roosevelt’s words: “Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money;…

In the blurred definition of a successful life, happiness and pleasure are characteristics that have been lucid and parallel in the many contrasting ideas. Amongst successful icons in today’s society, Steve Jobs has been admired by many people as a role model and a representation of a successful journey. In Steve Jobs's commencement address to the Stanford University alumni, he elaborates on the idea that it is essential to follow one’s heart, in order to find what genuinely makes one happy. He also emphasizes the necessity to find a profession in which one is talented and willingly able to enjoy, in a way that portrays happiness in what one does as success. Although some may argue that his ideas are a bit superficial and naive,…

The definition of what it means to truly obtain and achieve happiness in life has been explored by hundreds of philosophers over the decades. In spite of this being the case for the subject, not one of these philosophers have found an exact answer to such a question. One cannot measure happiness and its capacity. As a result of this, people have no choice but to determine their own judgement of what happiness is to them. This judgement can easily be affected by an individual’s situation and the problems that they will inevitably face.…

Can happiness be found in everyday life? In the articles, “The Pursuit of Happiness,” “Just for the Joy of it,” and “Get out of the Groove,” each author suggests different ways that people may acquire happiness. People are constantly trying to find happiness in some aspect of their lives. For some, it may be easy for them to feel happy, but for others, it may be a continuous difficulty. Not everyone will experience happiness equally, because no person is identical to another. Everyone is different, meaning that it is reasonable to suggest that they encounter different methods for acquiring happiness. Some ways that the authors agree or disagree that happiness may be pursued include how much people are willing to do to be happy, discovering natural tendencies in humans, and focusing on the simple things in life.…

There are many different opinions about the relation between “happiness and work.” Some people think that when they are more successful in their job, they will be happier. So they try to work harder, impose order on their job, and try to achieve some goals to become happier as the opinion of Alain de Botton in his speech named “Finding meaning in the daily grind.” However, I am in the group of people who think that if I am happy, and having positive thinking, I can do my job better, more successful. I strongly agree with Shawn Achor’s opinion which shows in the video named “The happy secret to better work.”…

Two different perspectives on happiness are proposed in the articles by Arthur Brooks and Adam Green. I was able to make a lot of connections with this book to my parents careers. One idea that I have been taught my entire life is that having a positive attitude can change your perspective on any situation and this book reaffirmed what I have learned throughout my life in that regard. Another topic that I discussed in the paper was cutler's idea of striking a balance between challenge and boredom in the workplace. Another topic that I discussed is it difference between a job, a career, and a calling. I found it interesting that a positive attitude can make job into a calling. Another topic that I found extremely interesting is that the money we make has a great impact on how we view ourselves. The final topic that I covered in my review of The Art of Happiness at Work was how people identify themselves through their work. After reading this book I still believe that the meaning of life is to be happy. I believe that they be happy in life a person must be happy with their…

As individuals we work in life to achieve many goals we desire, at times we work for them to any extent. These goals can take form physically or mentally and can bring great intellectual or spiritual developments. Happiness is seen as the major and most important emotion us humans seek for, it is what provides us with our ‘desired’ pleasures. Happiness is the result of achievement, as individuals, we must figure out what we want to do once we’re out in the real world; whether it’s becoming rich and famous, or just owning a regular house in a middle class neighborhood, we all have goals that we are looking to achieve so that we can be happy but the only way that happiness can be obtained is through hard work. As Bill Rancic stated “The American Dream is still alive out there, and hard work will get you there. You don’t necessarily need an Ivy League education or to have millions of dollars startup money. It can be done with an idea, hard work, and determination.” (Rancic)This quote is explaining how anyone can achieve success in America, through hard work and perseverance. It doesn’t matter how much money an individual has, hard work and effort can get anyone anywhere in life and land anyone any kind of job they want. A lot of businesses look for people who are hard working, determined, dedicated, and enthusiastic. They’re looking for someone who’s innovative,…

In this, I believe that some people are raised to be more work oriented, focusing on their educational and career successes rather than where their alternative interests manifest, while other people invest more heavily in achieving personal or moral success, satisfying the spirit in lieu of the ego. Obviously, being preoccupied in one’s work does not necessarily equate to the lack of peace with oneself, but setting aside the desire to improve or build on one’s character, finding what their true bliss lies in and growing as a person, in order to attain extrinsic goals would result in a subliminal despondency. Though one may have knowledge and riches, unless they have acquired their life’s true euphoria, they may find themselves simply going through the motions: not necessarily unhappy, but not feeling as if they are living, either- just existing.…

For centuries, mankind seeks to answer the question: Can money buy happiness? Therefore psychologists are exploring the relationship between wealth and happiness for decades. They came to the conclusion that money can make people happy if it involves moving from a state of extreme poverty into the middle class, but they do not have a noticeable impact in the future. It means that people feel glad and safe when they have enough of money to satisfy daily needs. It is important to understand, what really makes people happy besides the living routine. Jarod Kintz quotes “I think the key indicator for wealth is not good grades, work ethic, or IQ. I believe it is relationships. Ask yourself two questions: How many people do I know, and how much ransom money could I get for each one? ”I think it is safe to say happiness have many aspects. The real versions of well-being that plays out every day are the ones based upon an individual experience, perception and values.…
