The main characters are the narrator, who is telling the story, and the dead husband and wife. The narrator remains static because she does not take anything from this experience but the couple is dynamic. They’re the ones throughout the story who are looking to understand what they’re missing and they figure it out and learn from their search in the end. They are both dynamic characters in a sense because they learned and realized that what they have been missing was there the whole time, instilled in this new couple. Their old love is being reflected off of this live couple and it showed how great of a love it was.
The main conflict between the couple was internal because they are facing themselves to try and figure out what exactly it was that they were missing, and it was a problem because they couldn’t figure it out for a while. It is also circumstantial because they cannot find what they’re looking for in the first place. They needed to open up and dig deep to figure out what they were really looking for in that old house.
The setting of the story is in the house. The house used to belong to the ghost couple and now belongs to a new one. It is night time and it’s dark and quiet and somewhat creepy. This setting contributes to the central conflict because the house serves as a jump-off point to start their
