Dear Editor
The 2022 Winter Olympics in Oslo has been discussed a lot the last year, but from the beginning, I felt like the teens has not been able to share their voice. We hear the same arguments repeatedly, but I feel that we as teens never has had anything to say. The Olympic Games are relevant for us as well, so why will not anyone listen to what we have to say?
I have often heard the argument that the youth will get the benefits of this Olympic. People like Kjetil Andre Aamodt and Petter Stordalen has been saying that the winter Olympics is necessary for youth athletics, and that especially Groruddalen will get a total makeover. I find it very special that these two rich men, who live in richest neighborhoods in Norway, just now started thinking about the youth in Groruddalen. However, if they had known more about the teens in east-Oslo they would see that almost nobody care about winter sports, and that almost everyone play some sort of sport performed in the summer. So why will they care about new arenas and fancy equipment that they will never use? The winter Olympic Games will only benefit the richer part of the young population in Norway, living in the west of Oslo.

It is a fact that other parts of the cultural life will be damaged because of the Olympics, football clubs who need new pitches will not get the funds they need, and the youth will again suffer. The youth in east-Oslo who really need new arenas for football, cricket and basketball, instead will be getting ski stadiums and alpine slopes. When the teens does not have any way to perform their sport, they will find other hobbies to have. And the politicians wonder why so many young people end up in jail?
