Time Capsule It’s the year 2013. If you’re reading this, I’m assuming that it’s at least the year 2300 or later. There are a lot of interesting aspects of our culture at this moment, but I just want to give you guys a little taste of what’s going on in the sports world right now. To be honest, the greatest athlete on the planet is probably LeBron James. He just finished one of the greatest seasons ever seen in the game of basketball; he won the regular season MVP, the NBA championship, of which he was MVP, and an Olympic Gold Medal. Today’s date is January 29, which means we are just five days away from Super Bowl 47. As you may or may not know, the Super Bowl is the biggest event in our country every year; it is the National Football League championship game. The game features the AFC Champion, the Baltimore Ravens, versus the NFC Champion, the San Francisco 49ers. Recent memory has given us classic Super Bowls, and hopefully this one will not disappoint. In other news, my favorite athlete, golfer Tiger Woods, just won his first tournament of the year this past week. The past couple of years have been tumultuous for him, but his game and his personal life are starting to take a turn for the better, something all golf fans are happy to see. Also, the National Hockey League, or NHL for short, recently ended their lockout and began play. A lockout is when the owners in a particular league do not allow the players into facilities for practices or games, usually for financial reasons. Hopefully, as a sports fan you do not have to deal with lockouts in your day and age. They are an inconvenience for fans of the sport and are extremely annoying. This is just a little look into the sports landscape in 2013. Hopefully the sports you enjoy are as interesting and fun as the sports we enjoy!
